I haven't played the original Deus Ex much (the closest I got was following a Let's Play that was suddenly aborted around the VersaLife level), so when this prequel was announced, I wasn't very interested. Then all the media showing this futuristic world with cyborgs running around everywhere piqued my interest. Then they released THIS trailer:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Video Game, Penetrate The Penthouse Gameplay Trailer HD | Video Clip | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

Guess this should appease all the people dreading this would be dumbed down for consoles. Looks like it will be an awesomely customizable experience. Can't wait!

Anyone else looking forward to this?

I worked with a couple that used to play the game. And they would mispronounce the name of the game and really confuse the hell out of their coworkers.

"When we get home we are going to play Do Sex."(Deus Ex)

Loved the first game. Gotta say that from the trailer, that looks really clumsy to play.

I agree Mountebank. I've been stoked for it for a while, being a huge fan of the original, and this looks kinda shitty gameplay-wise.

I loved the original. I tried the demo for the sequel but it didn't really strike my fancy. This prequel looks pretty cool.

I wanted so much to love the original, but the aged graphics and the OMGWTFPWN difficulty level forced me to lower my rating to merely "quite like it."

Excellent story though, gotta say.

Looks pretty decent. Hopefully it'll have a degree of challenge like a lot of these past few RPG/FPS hybrids.

I never thought the game was that hard. Well, maybe the first time I played it, and tried to play it like a shooter. That made it hard.

Well, I've recently finished the game and it was pure awesome. I might do a detailed review later. For now, I'll leave you with this:

...yeah, that really isn't the game's finest moment. Why they didn't remove that character or at least change the VA after seeing fans' response to her in the leaked beta is beyond me. Not to mention that there are a couple of other black characters with equally unfortunate voice acting (such as the hostage plant manager). I guess this game does to black people what the original Deus Ex did to Asians.

Played it last night, it's a very fun game however, even in hard mode, it's too EASY.

Pros:

- Best hacking game ever
- Storyline is solid
- Area based NPCs aren't useless, they say interesting things, they look different from one another.
- Eidos Montreal made this game, Quebecer references ALL OVER THE PLACE (Texas Separists LOL)
- 0451
- Stable, runs amazing at Ultra max settings on my rig.

Cons:

- Inventory system is lacking, I'm a hoarder, I cannot hoard, my 2 weapons takes half of all my slots, ammo takes another 1/4 leaving me to work with fumes unless I upgrade some shit to get the other part of the inventory. I don't like having to use my first few P points just so that I can manage inventory properly.

- Don't like the battery system. Only the last battery recharges thus this means if you use consumables to get the other battery charges, any ability you use will burn the non-rechargable ones first then your "last hope", this should have been done different such as to burn the rechargable one first then dip into your ressources. Basically this means I'm not using my abilities/fun mechanics as much as I can.

- Unsure if what I do, say, really matters... the Mass Effect effect. Another playthrough (which will happen) can answer this question properly.

- Weird and comicaly skeletal animations to bodies when going around corners (aka, get stuck in walls, boxes, or even fly up 6 feet in the air, lol)

- Far too easy, even on HARD settings. No issue taking down easy AI or finding plenty of ammunition.

- For a game that cares about security, I find ammunition placement highly suspect.

Overall, a very good game. Looking forward to go home tonight and play it.

What you does matter. There are some consequences that don't show up till end game. All in all it doesn't matter much, but if you execute an NPC early on, he doesn't show up later. That kind of thing.

Just rescued Dr. Girlfriend Reed. I guess the game is doing it's job when it affected me emotionally when I put together that she was shacking up with that fucking cripple. I was pretty mad.

I love the level of Immersion in this game.At first I was the Paragon of Good.Always Non-Leathal and as little as possible contact with the enemy. After the Airplane crash in Hengshua I was like: "How dare they kill my pilot!Belltower and everyone that dealt with them will suffer!"
From that point on,it was non-stop headshots with an Silenced,Armore-piercing 10MM Handgun.

Yeah, that's definitely the point where most people go "Man, FUCK the Pacifist achievement! THOSE BASTARDS WILL PAY." I kept up my no-kill run because at that point I didn't have any decent weapons, though.

It was bad enough seeing those fuckers drag Faridah out of the plane, execute her in cold blood and start gloating about it. Then I found her corpse in the Harvesters' hideout, meaning Belltower sold it to be stripped of augumentations before her blood was even cold. It was one of the saddest moments I have ever experienced in a videogame.

I wasn't so much mad as rather intrigued as to why she would address Namir not only by his first name but in such an affectionate tone considering the guy killed half her colleagues and smacked her in the face with his flayed robo fist. Keep in mind that when Namir mentioned "the things we love" we wasn't necessarily referring to Reed: according to the tie-in novel, Namir has a family. I'm willing to chalk Reed's reaction to Stockholm syndrome. Dunno why her lab looked like someone blew up a can of white paint in the 2001: A Space Odyssey hotel room, though.

On the other hand, that post credits scene made me go "THAT BITCH!". She's going to work on the friggin GREY DEATH? WHAT THE HELL?

I will be getting this game tonight, thanks to one of my fantasy football guys. I can't wait to play it!

Is anyone else having trouble finding ammunition for certain weapons? I always have plenty of 10mm pistol and shotgun ammo on hand but am always critically short on the combat rifle and sniper rifle.

I can't wait for the weekend so I can log some serious time in this. I only just got out of the first city.

I saved my pilot by opening an augmented can of woopass on the assailants

At the end of the game the exact opposite is true, I can't find any 10 mil pistol ammo anywhere and it's my favorite gun. Combat and heavy combat rifle ammo pour out of everything.

I didn't mean Namir, I meant Hugh Darrow. It's his computer in that white room with her and there's a leg brace in the room.

Well at least my super upgraded combat rifle will see some use then :) (plus my guy is all set up for fully auto firefights).

My guys is a hacker sneak take down specialist.

Still find the game easy as fuck even on hard.

I have to agree with Jay here... even with my in your face shoot first and ask questions later playstyle I rarely find myself overmatched (or even having to retreat).

Well, it was barely worth sitting through the EXCRUCIATINGLY long credits to find out:

Dr. Girlfriend Reed is indeed the cunty cuntface I thought she was seeing as she's at least partially responsible for the gray death in Deus Ex. Though, the remix of the original game's title screen music afterwards was a treat.

I need help, this game is depriving me of my due sleep D: Hadn't binge-played a videogame for such long stretches since I last replayed Deus Ex last Thanksgiving. These games speak to me.

Doing a no-lethal hacker ghost run for my first, shit is fun.
