Jerkface 2: The SequelI guess that makes her jailbait by your standards.
I'm holding out for the eventual porno parodyJerkface 2: The Sequel
Hey, I'm only 43 and I'm getting AARP invites all the time. She's in her 40's. Not AARP. Jerkface.
I am only 25 and I occasionally get AARP invitesHey, I'm only 43 and I'm getting AARP invites all the time.
Plus, when you're essentially making the same point in about 20 different strips, maybe you can just let the point be.what the fuck is this shit?
When PA does political cartoons its hilarious because they know they are drawing something retarded. There isn't any of that hipster irony in here.
I don't know, but it's a good thing he made it clear he was speaking for himself, isn't it?I wonder how other cartoonists feel when Kurtz decides to speak for them without being invited to.
Shhh! You'll break their pitchforks with your logic!Did everyone miss the aritcle Kurtz linked to? This has nothing to do with the Print vs Webcomic debate, but the idea that streamlined technology has made it harder for cartoonists to represent things, since, for example, the iPhone is less visually distinct than older types of phones.

That's fine, I never argued about it's quality, I was just pointing out that he wasn't getting on the Newspapers vs Webcomics soapbox he has before. No, I read the article; the comic is still garbage. And his rant seems ill-considered, contradictory and kind of hypocritical.
That's a bit unfair, by that logic doing a comic about Lolbat is also disservice to...hmmm.But I think using the strip as a soapbox and basically skipping a real update* is doing a disservice to thousands of fans who come to his site every day expecting a fun comic about the PVP staff, not a pissy vague "political" comic about something they probably don't give two shits about.
*note: this isn't me getting upset about some perceived lack of an update
I don't disagree, and I'm not some huge, "Scott Kurtz can do no wrong" fan either. Used to be a bigger fan (back in the Image forums days), but these days PVP is a lot more hit-or-miss. I just think if you're going to give someone crap, do it for something they deserve getting it for. In this case, giving Scott crap for going on another "Newspapers suck" rant isn't something he deserved. The other points people have brought up though? Totally valid, go wild.

It's cool that you're a fan, Revenant. I am too, when he's writing jokes that belong in his comic.
I'm not even saying all I want is video game jokes! I just want the comics to remain about the cast, not spin-off superheroes, and not Kurtz's rage-of-the-week.
I don't think Kurtz actually read that article. It's not some whingy diatribe against representing new technology; it points out how illustrators need to adapt and come up with new contextual clues to make new technology recognizable as such... which is basically what Kurtz also says. Maybe next time don't just read the first paragraph, Scott. That all said, I agree with Kurtz's point. If you can't be bothered to learn to draw a flat screen TV or smartphone, then you're probably not in the right field of work.
