I hate it when people try to get me to prove a negative.
"Prove you are not being a smart ass"

makare, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build you a new desktop. Lil Wombar 2.0 will be that desktop. Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster."

Called into work on a sunday morning at 8 am - blown power supply in a system critical machine. Third such incident in the last 4 or 5 months. No spares left. Had to take down a slightly less important machine to transplant its PSU, and when best buy opens up in 3 hours go buy a new one. Been e-mailing the boss for weeks saying I need more replacement parts, have been met with nothing but silence.

I just do not understand why it is so difficult for some people to understand that Freedom of Speech ONLY applies to government action. If a citizen stops you from saying something is not a violation of Freed of Speech.

GAAAAH just idiotic.

I never really thought about that. Blood on the uniform. Hope it didn't get on your belt...

Damn Seej, that sucks!

... Also, we it possible for me to throttle a dispatcher through the radio... I'd have gone through 2 or 3, plus the calltakers letting these STUPID calls through...

Well O_C, my sis'in'law once called in a cat stuck on the roof...

Luckily the police called my brother before going out there. He got home from work, put a ladder against the roof, climbed up, called the cat, pet the cat, grabbed it by the scruff of the neck...

and threw it over his shoulder, barely missing his wife.

My cat Batmanuel is really sick and we don't know why. He's only 5 years old and already has an immune disorder which plays havoc on his body. I keep checking up on him, but he just doesn't eat. Hopefully with the antibiotics for his upper respiratory infection he'll get his sinuses back and be hungry again. Till then we may have to syringe feed him. Poor fella :(

When I was working in High Level, we'd get the dispatcher sending calls through to us for High Prairie (which is only about 4 hours away). At least twice a night. We have a report of a stabbing at the West Motor Inn. Uhhhh, there is no West Motor Inn. Ooop, sorry High Level, this call is meant for High Prairie. Great, maybe you should do that.

Kitty update- The vet did full blood work on him and everything is coming up normal except for the things caused by his not eating. His temperature is dangerously low so they are keeping him in house for a couple of days with an IV and heating bed.

My 2 hours of sleep has left me a little ragged and originally the estimate looked like $3,000 to $5,000... until I got a closer look and it was actually $300 to $500. I'm so relieved I can help my little buddy get better!

There have been about 5 different random cold viruses being passed through my house, can't remember the last time I was actually 100% healthy. It's like a whirlwind of symptoms in here. Gosh I love when my kids go back to school.

I just received a work request that was so outrageous and far out of the requester's jurisdiction, I'm not even sure how to respond. The work request actually makes me angry.

Background: I work as the IT software admin/DBA for a private college. I am a staff of one, and I am the only individual on all of campus that does custom software development work. I have no helpers and no students that do work for me.

The part-time secretary for the part-time A/V department just sent me a request to alter an internal-only room request form (which affects about 6 departments, theirs being the least crucial). She needs:
- To include an interactive room layout mapping ability that exports the requester's results to PDF and emails it to their department (so they can know automatically how the requester wants the AV laid out in the room).
- Non-AV information removed from the form because they don't need to see it.
- The form to be reworked so public requesters can use it (despite the form being specifically designed for internal use)
- The form to be completely retooled with AJAX-level interactivity despite being a simple email submission form
- The request to custom-generate an online work form for their AV student workers integrated with their schedules (which aren't currently stored anywhere in any database)
- Needs to be done by November

I just...this person's concept of self-importance and technical ability angers me.

@Piotyr: What Ash said. This woman needs to understand that what she's asking goes beyond unreasonable.

Also... my personal laptop's keyboard appears to be dying... about a third of the keys simply fail to activate.

Time for a new laptop..... with that money that I don't have.... *headwheel*
