YES. This one. This movie literally scared me for years when I was a kid. I was afraid those damn balls were waiting around every friggin corner. I had to open my closet door from the side for a while for fear of the final scene.

Trivia: The ball moved so realistically creepy because Coscarelli hired a pro baseball player to throw it, rather than have it on wires. Brilliant. I love Coscarelli.

I am a HUGE horror buff. The problem is you already know the good ones. I don't know what directors in the 70s were on, but it was some creepy stuff. Makes me wonder if there was something naturally conducive to horror in the Post-Vietnam climate. They were good at the psychological scare. Not much of a fan of the newer stuff, because gory just isn't scary. It may be uncomfortable and gross, but it's not scary. It doesn't keep me up wondering if it's under the bed.

Why has nobody yet mentioned Night of the Creeps?
(And no, Slither isn't exactly the same)

Haven't actually seen it myself, but one person nearby also recommends Splinter.

So far, I've watched Demon Knight, Elm Street 3, Night of the Living Dead (1990), and Trick 'R Treat. Cinemasacre's series of quick reviews of the Elm Street movies got me in the mood for them, so now I'm moving on with 4. I watched the first one not too long ago, so skipping it for now. Might go back to it. :D

Splinter was pretty good for its budget, but I wouldn't say it's movie marathon material next to most of the other films in this thread. It's def worth a watch, though.

I loved the Mr. Pibb part of Slither.

I didn't see anybody mention The Exorcist.
