I never really watched Smallville. I thought the premise seemed good but from what I've heard it sucked. I hate it when that happens. Good idea bad execution I guess.

All I remember about the first season of Smallville was that it was about kids who's parents were mean to them, so they got meteor powers and killed their parents before Clark stopped them. I think this was the basic plot for the 4-5 episodes I saw.

Kristin Kreuk was unbearable. I didn't mind the guy who played Lex, but the writing turned the show into a superhero soap opera.

I did dig that show, but that new theme song was hard to get by. I mean, the old one wasn't great, but it didn't cause me to wish I was born deaf.
Don't you dare ever besmirch the original Dandy Warhol's version of the Veronica Mars themesong.

TV sucks in general.
How I Met Your Mother, Sons of Anarchy, Modern Family, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, Parks & Recreation, Community, The Office, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, Archer, Justified, Homeland, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, East Bound & Down, How to Make it in America, Bored to Death, Mad Men, Breaking Bad

I've only seen two of those shows and heard about a couple more... goddamn I am out of the pop culture loop. :(

I meant about her response that Charlie's list meant nothing. Didn't say there wasn't good TV on atm. Believe it or not, for the first time in 10yrs I actively watch 5+ tv shows atm. Only two of which were on Charlie's list.

that's a shame, though, because most of those shows actually are well-written, acclaimed stuff. Doesn't mean you can't be entertained watching something else--it's just that those shows that he listed are the heavy-lifters.

Also screw you if you hate Community and Parks and Recreation.

I love Community, but was kinda bored with Parks and Recreation. Not saying it was bad, just didn't move at the right pace for me or something.

Not everyone finds Brazil and Citizen Cane to be compelling or entertaining movies either.

As for "the heavy-lifters", that's mostly opinion, even when shows win awards, it's usually politcal BS from mostly rigged awards shows.

I love Lois and Clark. It is so cheesy and Dean Cain was super hot as superman.

I've actually never seen Brazil or Citizen Kane, and the only Criterion movie I own is Che. I am really terrible at being a movie snob, I have barely seen any old black & white shit.
