A friend and I had a disagreement recently about Parenthood (the show, not the movie). I claimed it was underrated with some strong acting and writing. I'm not saying it's the best thing on tv. I just argued that it was a good, solid show.

My friend thinks it sucks and it's the worst show ever where nothing important happens.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I haven't watched one minute of Parenthood. But I've heard some critics say nice things about it.

True true.
Onward and upward:
Juski/Bananahands: Wings or Night Court?
I am chiming in on all of these despite it not being my thread.
Wings had the better cast, Night Court had the better premise.

I thought to myself, FINALLY! But then groaned when they needed to shoehorn everyone else's relationship in its place. Still think that show should have ended with Michael Scott boarding that plane.

ugh, tvtropes. It's just aspergers on an internet-wide scale.
Seriously. I just don't care about Jim and Pam anymore. I don't care about the cutesy moments there throw in every episode so people can tweet about how cute it was. They could seriously get rid of Jim and Pam and the show would probably do better.

Oh, look guys. Lady Gaga released a fucking 14 minute music video where it bores me to death and she continues to try and make herself look like this tragic star.

Wings. I enjoyed Night Court, but I just feel like Wings ages better and the Cheers characters popped up from time to time.

Night Court, I'll take John Larroquette any day.

I also miss the tragically underrated John Larroquette Show, one of the best sitcoms of it's time. Well, at least it's first season anyway before it got networked to be lighter and happier.

Larry Sanders is the only sitcom (I guess that's what it is) I have the complete package of on DVD. They used to marathon Larry Sanders on CTV here in Edmonton at like 2-4 am every night for a year or so and I became hopelessly addicted to it as a teenager.

So, yes, I'd agree. Being HBO didn't hurt it either, Rip Torn is an amazing swear artist.

To be fair, I haven't had a chance to watch any of the new episodes so far this season due to overwhelming amounts of school work.

I've heard mixed reviews of this season but I love the characters so much I am pretty forgiving.

I never cared if Shawn and Juliette got together so that doesn't have any affect on me. It might to other people.

I couldn't get into The Larry Sanders Show, which is pretty damn weird, considering the whole Appatow connection. I'll definitely say Night Court; I never liked Wings.

My adherence to common rules regarding writing makes me look like an intelligent person rather than an internet dumbass

unless I ironically don't use periods

I think people generally don't notice good grammar. they just notice when it is bad.

Avatar is an easy one.

I assume you mean TV, but I'm going to throw The Secret of Kells on the heap as awesome is many ways.
I actually really liked Avatar. I never did watch through the last season though. I'll have to check out The Secret of Kells. I think Venture Brothers, Batman: TAS and Cowboy Bebop all go without saying.

Best Animated Shows? (Not running off nostalgia, good shows that stand the test of time and maintained a sense of respect for the viewer during their airing IE: Not feeling the need to please everyone and doing what they set out to do)

The Tick
Batman: TAS
Futurama
Venture Bros
Sonic the Hedgehog (The good one)
Beetlejuice
Ghostbusters
X-Men (The 90s version)
Reboot (Pushing it here as this was CGI)

Best animated series not from here? (OVAs do not count as they're mini movies)
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Hellsing
Tenchi Muyo TV/Universe
Sailor Moon
