I want to put American Dragon before they changed it on this list. I loved that show. So fun.

Here are the best television shows, in order.

The Simpsons (Seasons 1 - 8) > News Radio > everything else.

I have to think that I just haven't seen good episodes of the simpsons. I watched the first season and it was meh. Which season is the best?

Seasons 3-8 are the golden years. For the more family-driven, sentiment earning episodes, go early. For the more broad, yet more poignant satire and belly-laughs, go later. Personally, my favorite seasons are 7 and 8, and my favorite episodes are:

  • "Homer At the Bat"
  • "Homerpalooza"
  • "The Summer of 4 Ft. 2"
  • Krusty Gets Kancelled"
  • Lisa the Iconoclast"
  • "A Millhouse Divided"
  • "Homer's Phobia"
And probably a thousand more which I can't remember off the top of my head. But yeah, 3-8. Worth the work.

I like the Simpsons, but I don't like to consider an episodic format show in my "Top __" lists. I'm with Shego on the idea that a show needs a resolution... I mean, the way Simpsons was written, it's no surprise that it's suffering now. The writers got bored and moved to different shows with more continuity. Futurama, News Radio, Mission Hill (fuckin' love that show) or moved on to hosting a late night talk show (have to have Conan love).

Still, it's cool to see where the writers went. Most of them left the show around season 7 (or whenever Futurama started... maybe that was 8?) and come back to write the occasional episode or came back to write the movie.

Peh. A good episode of The Simpsons has more heart and soul than plenty of those hour-long drama fests. Which, they can still be good, but most definitely aren't the better.

Newsradio still holds up as one of my favourite shows of all time.

This episode may be my favourite episode of anything EVAR.

Newsradio had some great shows but should have created a final resolution season after Hartman passed. Much like my previous statement:

Great shows/episodes. Good series, but not great.

It...did. It ended the season after he died, leaving Mathew and Dave together in limbo. Of course they were planning one more season, but when they couldn't, it ended just perfectly.

In no particular order: In Bruges, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Wet Hot American Summer, The Big Lebowski, and probably one of those classics that I love that I can't think the name of right now. Or maybe You Only Live Twice.

High Tension, REC, Labyrinth, Pandorum, Pan's Labyrinth

(These are just my all time top favorites, not remotely saying they're the best movies of all time)

Lol I think I am going to keep my movie favorites to myself since this thread is designed to judge other people's opinions. If those are your favorites.. my favorites are really going to take a licking.

Right. My favorite movies are, by no means, the BEST movies. Although probably top for their respective genres.
