Yeah, and meanwhile my boys get screwed over.

I don't mind the return of the Norris Division. Though I do wonder if they'll go the route so many are throwing out there: naming the divisions for four of the greatest players in NHL history.

Adams = Orr (Boston, Buffalo, Montreal, Tampa, Ottawa, Toronto, Florida)
Patrick = Lemieux (Washington, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Rangers, Carolina, Islanders)
Norris = Howe (Detro-yit, Chicago, Nashville, Dallas, Saint Louis, Minnesota, Columbus, Winnipeg)
Smythe = Gretzky (Vancouver, San Jose, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton)

Just realized the horrible truth about realignment.

The Presidents Trophy will now be relevant! Teams will strive to win it! Currently you if you win it, you will gain 4 series with home ice vs the next best of 3. With realignment, winning your conference now only means 2 series with home ice.

Bettman!

This Sens-Devils game is ridiculous. 3-0 lead turns into being down 4-3 after back to back shorthanded goals, take a penalty with 1:30 left, no problem. Just go in and score shorthanded with 5 seconds left to go to overtime!

...Wait, what?

Down 3-1, pull the goalie with two minutes left, score twice with the extra attacker to TIE the game and then WIN IT in OVERTIME????

Ontario Teacher Pension fund just sold it's shares in Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment to Rogers/Bell media.

This is huge. And in my opinion great for the Leafs and terrible for the NHL. I wonder if the sale will get approved by the NHL BoG.

Its equal shares to Rogers and Bell, is my understanding. Which is a surprise.

All the articles I've read mention (to be fair, that number is two) the Maple Leafs, Marlies and and the Raptors, but are not the Rock also part of MLSE? I assumed they were since the play at the ACC as well.

Why does the Maple Leaf's penalty kill have to suck SO MUCH?

Shit, that sounds like a crazy entertaining game.

I don't really know, to be honest, whether they are still paying them or not.
It also wouldn't really make much sense to fire Wilson right now anyway, if there is indeed any intention of doing so whatsoever. His contract is potentially up after this season, I think.

I think most of the players are bilingual, at least to some extent, but for dealing with the Montreal press, its definitely not so good.

The Quebecois are really protective of their language, so I can definitely see some Montreal fans being angry with the coaching decision. It is just temporary though. They're looking for a bilingual coach for next season.

Damn it, Hawks, this is why you have to play hard more than 20 minutes a game. At least it got interesting, though. Way too many penalties the first two periods.

Randy Cunneyworth was the coach of the Rochester Americans for a long while and did a great job in developing players for us. Thomas Vanek, Jason Pomminville, and Ryan Miller all played under him (as well as other Sabres). I think he could be a good coach.

Well, do remember this is the same hockey team that rioted over the suspension of their star player after he whacked an official (or two) with his stick.

At least he isn't *gasp* American.

Seriously that's some pretty elitist bullshit.
If he were American and spoke French they likely wouldn't have a problem, to be honest.
I'd like to hear from the Quebecois members (As far as I remember that's just Jay) on the board what their thoughts are, if they even care at all.

Yesterday after the World Juniors game, my family remained seated on the couch to make fun of Ovechkin and watch Washington lose to Buffalo. That was fun.

And as for the Leafs, man, what a frustrating loss to the Panthers tonight. Leafs just couldn't catch a break, even when they're dominating the play the puck's still not going in, and Reimer just let in some seriously soft goals. Hate to say it but having Gustavsson in net from the beginning probably would have saved them the game.
But I definitely can't deny that it was entertaining.

The Leafs game tonight:

Seriously, how do you give up a two goal lead in less than two minutes? Why did Connolly take a penalty with less than 3 minutes to go in the Overtime period? BLECH.

In non-Toronto based discussion; who the hell throws a dead duck on the ice? And what would they have done if Anaheim DIDN'T win? But I seriously can't wrap my head around the people who throw dead animals on the ice, be it a duck, an octopus or anything else. Just seems disrespectful to me.

And you think that the sportswriters could do a better job? Teams like Tampa and Nashville would never be represented.

No. But there has to be a better way. Seriously. First off it gets skewed because of the number of Leafs fans, but on top of that, Crosby is up there despite missing most of the season, same with Reimer.

I think the best way would be to look at simple stats. Top X players from each team.

Then again, I guess an argument could be made that "All-Star" could just mean the most popular players, not necessarily the best.

But seriously.
