This would be an excellent time for Kurtz to break out the ambulance running gag. I remember he used it once when Kirby got sick/hurt and the ambulance had a dog theme to it.

I'm just saying it'd bring some levity to the situation, that's all. You know, since PVP's still considered a comedic webcomic.

Brent is a jerk and deserves punishment in general. Nothing specific to this story-arc, though. That's part of what I find funny. Brent is agonizing over his father, and needs reassurance about that, but here comes the Krampus to beat him over the head for unrelated stuff. I find that happens a lot in life, both to me and other people. When something goes wrong that's not your fault, somehow that's when things that were your fault come to mind to continue the guilt beat-down. Scrampus just happens to be a very handy physical embodiment.

In some cases they can be confused. My brother went to the hospital thinking he was having a heart attack and it turned out to be gas. It does happen.
According to my Dad, they do. He was belching A LOT both times. Or is it 3 times now?
That's what I thought too. It wasn't. But it didn't feel like gas.
Yeeeeah the symptoms of heart attacks are legion. All sorts of 'common' causes like left-arm pain or crushing chest pain don't happen to some people, while weird things like splitting headaches happen to others. Confusing them for bad gas is not unheard of.
I've seen it alleged that one of symptoms of a heart attack can be a pressure on the abdomen (due to altered blood flow or some such thing). It's why Elvis (and other, less famous people) have died of a heart attack on the toilet - they didn't grunt and push themselves into one, they thought they had to poop when they were really having a heart attack. I don't know if it's true, but if it is it could conceivably be written off as gas.
Plus the character had just said he was trying not to be a "pussy" about having a heart attack. It's entirely possible he was just lying.
Depressing.
