Minor victory thread

Got a case of 10 beers from around the world. Right now I'm enjoying Kostritzer, which is a surprisingly decent black lager. Looked up some of the other beers, though, and the reason this isn't more than a minor victory is because the other beers aren't looking all that impressive.

I have survived the boxing day shift running the video game department at Best Buy. That is all.

Oh, also they bought us a large amount of food for break so we didn't have to go anywhere and at the end of the night they offered the leftovers up to any who wanted them. Two of my co-workers and I we're the only ones to jump on the stuff and we managed to get quite a bit. I'm not too proud to pass up a bunch of free bread, lunch meat and a large vegetable tray.

Finally made it back to work (had a 5 day break for the wedding and Christmas). It's so nice to be back to only having to worry about day to day issues and dealing with work stuff at work. Also, bought myself Skyrim (PC) over the break and managed to get a little way into it - only a couple of hours of playtime so far, but it's a gorgeous game.

Ordered a set of V-Moda Crossfade V-80 headphones from Amazon a couple of hours ago. At 10pm, they were $189.99. Right now they're $139.99. Took less than 5 minutes with a live chat rep to get the $50 difference refunded. They arrive Saturday.

(The M-80s are the same headphones, just not branded with True Blood. And over $100 more expensive at the sale price)

I caught the thief that had been leaving empty boxes all over my department. Turns out it was one of my staff and I couldn't be happier both that he has now been caught and that he won't be working for us any more as he was absolutely useless as an employee.

i misread that initially. I missed the thief part and I thought "holy shit someone got fired for leaving around empty boxes?!"

Anyway, that aside, glad they sorted it out.

I spent the day braving through the crowd in the Eatons Centre and managed to get my Christmas shopping done. AND I got to ride the new subway train on the way home. Its so much quieter. I dunno, it was just one of those days where you're just mysteriously in a great mood and everyone you interact with seems to be too. Love those days.

Definitely stole a 3DS and proabaly a copy of Saints Row: The Third and who knows what else including personal items from the staff room.

Finally starting to feel better after a week long cold that blossomed into a lovely little sinus/upper respiratory infection. Also, can finally get back to the gym tonight after a month off due to wedding craziness/illness. I may not be good for much more than cardio and the sauna, but it'll be nice just being there. Also also, apparently my 7 years of writing policy documents at various companies has paid off. Had to submit a new document to legal for review and it came back earlier than expected with only one (very) minor edit. That's almost unheard of around here, and made my boss a very happy boss.

Job interview tomorrow. I think I'll nail it, I just hope that when they describe te job in greater detail it'll actually turn out to be a good one. I've been burned on interviews like this in the past.

Got a good feeling though.

Good week to start the year! Got a bicycle for Christmas, weather/work/stomach virus prevented me from being able to enjoy, rode to work and back home yesterday, about a 2.5 mile loop all said and done. Don't feel like I'm gonna die today either, doing more riding later today.

Wife and I have been talking about being a little more adult and getting some bedroom furniture to match the bed we got last year. Started looking, one store it town had the media chest we were liking for $700, price that makes us go, "gonna have to save up for that" (we don't use credit cards and don't like to finance if we can help it) and were gonna look at other options. Wife went to another store in town for work and noticed that they had some of the living room furniture of the same set, after her work business was done, asked about it, found out they could get any of the set and gave her a quote on the same media chest of almost half the price. So, to cut this short, we will be getting our new media chest on Monday for the low price of $411 after tax.

The watch I'd ordered and already got refunded for non-arrival from Amazon finally turned up... three weeks late. FedEx had given up the search, and the post office had never received it on their end until this morning. surprised it ever showed up at all.

Now I just need to decide whether to return it for good, or keep it and pay Amazon all over again.

Been in odd sorts lately, a sort of dissatisfaction with some things.

It's funny how a tiny bit of manual labor and cleaning can make you feel good and refreshed when many of us do so much to avoid it. Or maybe it's a change of environment in my case. I've been neglecting some things for weeks now and the only real cleaning I've done has been the rat cage. I need to keep my own habitat nice as well, not just the one for unappreciative, stinky rodents. Cleaned the kitchen, cleaned the bathroom. The place looks nice and I feel a bit better.

Had another weigh-in/measurement session with my trainer last night, as we're basically starting from scratch in the new year. Since the Tuesday after Thanksgiving I've lost 10 pounds, and taken 4 inches off my waist, 1/2 inch off my chest, an inch off my arms and 2 inches off my thighs.

Ordered 10lbs of Jelly Belly jellybeans for my jellybean stash at work. That'll keep our team in Jelly beans for another month or so.

10 lbs? Holy crap! How much jelly bellies do you guys eat?
Not enough! I got the Soda Pop Shoppe Jelly Bellys consisting of: 7UP®, Dr. Pepper®, Orange Crush®, Grape Crush®, A&W® Root Beer and A&W® Cream Soda.

OM NOM NOM. Also, only $76. Pfft.

Holy crap 76 dollars for jelly beans!?
you can feed some to your cloned dog :p

Those little packs of jelly bellies are all i can take.

1% of people can be like "$100 worth of Jelly Beans? That must be a year's worth!" "Pfft, maybe for a month!"
Some people like their alcohol, some like their cigarettes. Others gamble or just like to party. Me, I like my sweets.

"$100 worth of cigarettes?" That must be a week's worth.
"$100 worth of booze?" That must be a night's worth.
"$100 worth of slot machines?" That must be a couple hours worth.
"$100 worth of hookers?" That must be Jay.

Honestly i don't like jelly beans. But I do love chocolate especially godiva chocolate. If I had 100 to blow on Godiva I sure as shit would.

I don't. just saying :(

Now get a jar that is a "banana trap." Where the lid is large enough to fit your hand into but too small for you to pull your fist out of. And sit back and see how long it takes for them to release the jelly bean to get their hand out.

Just talked to a landlord. We told him all about our troubles and what was going on (we feel that even though it may stop us from getting some places, being totally honest is the way to go) and he doesn't think it's going to be an issue.

Rent will be almost $200 less than what we are paying now and we'll all fit.

It's not ours yet, but I'm getting hopeful. Wish me luck, pray for me or just send good thoughts. If it happens and we get the place before 9 am tomorrow (the time our house is officially sold) I'll be posting in the EPIC WIN thread...
