Not bad. Waiting to hear on job in Springfield, Il. If I get it, I'll be filming short documentaries six months in a year.

If I don't, I'm moving to DC to annoy ElJuski and look for a job out there. More opportunities for entry level.

Things suck, this year can eat a dick. Just found out that my wife and I either have to go to court and fight a $900 bill that we have two letters stating she's not responsible for paying (one from the doctor's office and one from her insurance company - it was all a big cluster fuck with the office not billing the insurance correctly and was all settled out between the two of them years ago) or pay it. Court costs would likely be much higher than the $900, so we'll likely wind up just paying it. Which means, with some other bills that have come in, instead of getting to move out of the rapidly falling apart apartment in the crime ridden neighborhood where we moved when neither of us had decent paying jobs; we now have to pay this shit off with tax refunds, and won't get to move.

My wife is pregnant and we are at the OB/GYN for our first sonogram. I haven't posted about it yet because she's only 7 weeks in.

I pretty much hate my job but the benefits are great. Things might be changing for my department soon, but corporate red tape is a bitch.

My music has been moving along slowly, but surely. I'll be recording some acoustic songs...mellow stuff...soon.

I guess that's it.

Work sucks since we got a bimbo (true sense of the word) for a manager.
Lungs are more messed up than usual, but drugs keep them at a "comfortable" level for me.
Lots of snow right now.
Two days off (including today).
I'm gonna go buy some vodka tonight.

Could you send your story to Consumerist? If there are any options, they might be able to point them out.

HOLY SHNITZLE it's like you're me only not quite.

My wife is also just at 7 weeks, had our first OB appt on Friday, and scheduling the sonogram for the end of the month. Along with some health issues she deals with, we're taking this very cautiously and not posting a big deal about it quite yet.

I also hate my job but the pay and benefits are above average. Been interviewing on occasion for the last year, to get back to an industry I enjoy, but jumping health benefits at this point may be a deal breaker.

Might give that one a shot - I'm just sick of getting screwed over by hospitals, doctor's offices, and insurance companies. This is the second pain in the ass medical bill we've had to deal with this year. I used to be insured by Premera, and in the state of Washington they've already been fined millions of dollars by the state's insurance commissioner for refusing/failing to pay valid claims which they got out of by making up bullshit excuses or just outright lying to customers. Unfortunately, while I was busy laughing at them for their misfortune, they were busy failing to contact me by any means (email, phone, or mail) while refusing to pay one of my doctor's visits because "they requested additional information from the member and never received a response as to whether the visit was a preventive visit." This, in turn, led my doctor's office to give up and bill me directly, forcing me to have to pay $400 that I didn't really have to avoid being sent to collections.

I'm starting to think this is a new insurance company tactic. I had this happen to me regarding a ER visit for my son. Both ER and insurance said the bill wasn't my responsibility, but both pointed to the other, and left me holding the bill. It came up from other people at our annual open enrollment meeting, too. I am starting to think it's just a crappy trick to try to get the customer to pay the bill.

You get two weeks on my bedroom floor!

I would not be surprised. I know that the basic function of every company is to make money, but a) insurance companies make an ass-load of money off of people who buy insurance and never wind up needing it in the first place and b) if you have to resort to these tactics to make even more money, someone needs to audit you and lay out some sanctions, fuckers.

At one point, I interviewed for a different department within my company, but it didn't pan out. I decided that, for the time being, I will wait out my current department to see how things turn out. This approach has never had the results I've hoped for when I've done it in the past, so I can't say that I expect much.

I agree on switching health benefits...so much of a potential headache that it just doesn't seem worth it. I also get two weeks of paternity leave on top of my four weeks of vacation, another nice benefit that I have. The pros only just outweigh the cons.

On another note, we got to see our little blueberry-sized baby yesterday afternoon...heartbeat/flutter and all. We then spent the next two hours in Babies R us looking at crap and sitting in the rocking chairs/recliners.
