[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

That's a hell of a thing to say in a discussion that is expressly about him and his work.
Which, if the man and his work pisses you off, you can avoid looking at. So far as I know, no one is tying you down and forcing you to read PVP or Kurtz's blog posts and tweets. At certain point, it looks like you're just looking for something to bitch about.

...?

Look, sometimes the complaints/insults/arguing/discussion in this thread annoys me too, but I can close the thread: it is a thread about PVP. Is he only supposed to post in it if he likes PVP? It's not the PVP Happy Goodtime Singalong Festival of Smiles Thread (in which I would not post if only because of its cloying name). Your argument seems to be that he could just stop reading the comic, but you could just stop reading his posts.

If this was, say, one of our rant threads and Null posted, "Dear god, PVP Online is the worst thing and makes my blood boil," then "Hey, quit fucking reading it," would be reasonable advice. It is entirely nonsensical advice in a thread about PVP.

As to the Fox & Friends analogy, it's really the same thing: if you're complaining about it just to complain, then, correct: you're an asshat. But if it's a thread about Fox & Friends, you might as well jump in and tell people you hate those partisan hacks.

But after the ninth or tenth time you've bitched about them, people are bound to wonder "why in god's name do you still care?" I can't stand the Twilight movies and will bitch about them when they come up in conversation, but I don't seek out conversations about the movie in which to shit on them and I quit watching them as soon as I could.

At certain point, it stops being "I'm here to discuss PVP" and becomes "I'm here to bitch about Scott Kurtz and this comic strip I only read so I can bitch about it".

I think it's less about bitching just to bitch, and more about bitching about the direction something you feel attached to has taken. Most of us here came together because of PVP, and we have an attachment to the characters. It's like bitching about the new Star Wars movies.

Either way, bitching about people bitching is just as pointless as bitching about a comic. As is bitching about people bitching about people bitching about a comic...

So quit yer bitchin. Or not.

Okay but... so? I know this sounds oxymoronic but the most useless opinion to express is that others shouldn't express their opinion, because the only system in which you can definitely express that opinion, is the one where everyone can express all opinions.

I can see your annoyance: I too feel that way sometimes and think "Why am I even in this thread?" (and not just about this thread specifically). But I don't see any merit in asking him not express his distaste, as this is literally the best place he could do it if he's going to do it. Just because you would not jump into a conversation just to dump all over Twilight, does not mean everyone will behave that way... And that's fine.

And yes, yes, I get the irony that I'm essentially implying you should not express the opinion that he should not express an opinion... and truthfully I don't have a problem with you expressing your opinion, I merely feel it deserves an argument against it.

I was just marginalizing a user who marginalizes other users for holding negative opinions. Who also insulted anyone that actually still likes PvP...

So, whats with the face the new guy is making in the last panel? Is his eye twitching? Is that a reference to Watchmen? I'm distracted by it and confused.

What you should do is create a site of user polls and forums filled with cat pics, memes and animated gifs because that's better than PvPOnline...or so PvPonline is telling me. It's either brilliant or a mark of insecurity on the part of the author.

In the meantime, I'm sure I have an animated cat gif around here somewhere.

To say something positive about it: the strips have been on time so far this week. That's a step in the right direction.

Because we're too lazy to find the "unsubscribe from this thread" button, so it keeps showing up as having replies. That, and Kurtz refuses to keep doing the same old thing. He keeps finding new ways to piss people off.

Yeah, I kind of liked it also. Though I'd prefer something more along the lines of "Cole is a HAAAAACK!"

After reading today's (at least I think it was "today's") strip, one thought came to mind:

"He's trying to subtly dig at Halforum, isn't he?"

I think he's digging on the forum thing altogether. I'm not conceited enough to think he's specifically talking about us, although we ARE the ones who did the "Say something about the person above you".

I don't think we invented that forum game. I've seen it all over the place for about as long as I've visited forums, in some form or another.

Yes, but I don't think he's been to a lot of forums. I think his only real exposure was the Image boards and then HalfPixel.

Does it really matter? I don't know what seems weirder to me, if Scott really is giving a nod to Halforums, or so many people hoping it to be so. The internet's a big place, isn't it?
