[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

Given the misspellings, I assume Scott wrote it.
Honestly, I think that's probably the case.

As for the plot, isn't something like that what happened to DJ Coffman a while back? Like, he signed his IP to a media group, it tanked, and it turns out he had given over ownership rights to it? And I know the same kind of thing just about happened to Penny Arcade in their early years.

Why don't they just kill Duck? Remember in the old days when they fought a bunch of quake apes to the death? As well as other interesting things? "Oh it's not realistic!" DAMMIT THEIR RECEPTIONIST IS A TROLL FOR SATAN'S SAKE! Just ban him from the island and go back to whacky hijinx. Speaking of Skull, did anyone else find the break-up storyline for Skull really forced? HE'S SKULL! THE SILLY FARTING TROLL! What's worse is that he clearly put more effort into this break-up story-line than he did with Marcy and Francis which was made just because of an error of communication. Kurtz hates his old writing? I HATE HIS NEW WRITING! And yet PvP is still one of the better web-comics out there. I don't know if that's a comment on Kurtz talent or a comment on

Okay. Um....Not sure how to respond to this. I take it you are not a fan of our recent criticisms? A fair point, if not written terribly coherently.

Unless you mean something differently than I'm assuming. In either case, please explain.

Your talking to me right? Well no I got nuttin against your personal criticisms, these are just my personal ones. I've just been readin' PvP since high school and feel with the lack of updates and sillyness I feel that PvP isn't the shining beacon of webcomics that it used to be. I still like it and all but I'd honestly feel that's its about time for it end.

Ah! You agree with us, then! Okay. Two questions. Have you read through this thread and do you know how we came to be as a forum? We have a lot of history with PvP and there's a real love/hate thing going on with us and the comic but even more so with Scott Kurtz. I think a lot of people would totally agree with your assessment.

I've skimmed a bit of the topic and generally agree with a lot that has been said. Your definitely right about Lolbat by the way, Scott really beat that dead horse to a pulp. "Hey I got an idea! Let's give the one-shot joke character a back-story and story-line!" Friends don't let friends partake in awful Cerebus syndrome. And I don't really know your forum history, I just typed in google "Is anyone else disapointed with PvP online?" and fell in love with the forum.

You should check the Halforums Wiki, it's out there somewhere and has some decent little articles about us, beit a little outdated.

Halforums used to be the forum of PvP when it was called HalfPixel. On or about November 26, 2008 the forums disappeared mysteriously. Turns out Scott and Kris decided that they didn't want the bother of running/hosting a forum any longer so they ditched it without even a whisper that it was forthcoming. There one minute, gone the next. I stupidly started a board and invited people in and we've been here ever since. So even though we are not a part of PvP any longer, it's where we got our start.

Oh yeah, I used to go on that forum! Feeling all sorts of dejavu up in this, and I was wondering why PvP didn't have a forum no more. Kind of a dick move on their part.

I totally agree with Yoshimickster. Remember time travel? Ogres?

It'd be hilarious if Scott pulled something crazy to get rid of him. Turn him into a pig.

NO! Not a pig...a duck. Course puns are more Guigar's alley than Scott's. And yeah, I do miss Moe and Samwise too. And....a lot of good characters that Scott just kicked to the curb.

Unlike his prom night.
OOH SNAP! And that is why Dave is the Demi-God.

BOT-Does anyone feel Mirand should have never been in the comic? Or at least Kurtz could have developed her character into a nicer person rather than being constantly unlikable. Why does every webcomic have that one character who you just want gone but can't because "realistically" people who we don't like don't disapear in real life.WEB COMICS DON'T HAVE TO BE REAL ALL THE TIME! Course that's just my opinioin.

You know what I realized? His rss feed must have totally changed. I no longer get PVP rss feed updates at all.

I just realized I had missed a LOT of strips. Meh. Why the hell would you delete your entire RSS feed??? Thats just dumb. I actually get taking the comics out of it but removing it and starting a new one?

No, he still has an RSS feed, but it's a totally new one. Just seems weird to dump something that so many people might have bookmarked.
