You know what?

I hope my boys absolutely TANK the next the two games and drop to sixth place.

Sorry, but I don't want to get beat up by the Wings in the first round, then have to try to beat the Blues in the second.
Although, getting 6th and catching a hot Kings team may not be any better.

Damn. I was really hoping Buffalo could keep Washington out of it.

Stamkos got one tonight. He just needs one on Saturday against Winnipeg now.

Wow...I've said the same thing about the Wings for the last two weeks! I want nothing to do with Nashville in the first round.

At least we can all agree that this will be a miserable experience for everyone involved.

Four teams that will likely not make it to the SC finals, barring something close to a miracle:

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Nashville and either Detroit or Chicago, whichever of the two ends up facing us in the first round.

There is something to be said for MLB's and the NFL's requirement that two teams from the same division do not play each other in the first round of the playoffs...

So what happens to Ryan Clowe? It seems innocent and everything, nobody got hurt, but I think they really need to crush him for what he did, their cannot be any precedent for lenience for that type of play.

Eric Staal won the game in the shootout, giving the caniacs the first shootout victory of the season. Hope for the best next year, and I got a free hat. Yay!

So - for those of us whose teams weren't eliminated from the playoffs, who'd you like to see your team play in the first round?

Me, I'm torn. Either team we play will be "unfinished business" and a grudge match.

Yeah, it doesn't. I mean, when you guys lose your first round playoff series, the fires in the streets will burn just as badly as last June, right?

Nah those elements were purged from the fan base as they were dumb enough to post their exploits on facebook. You're not still sore about "chicken wing" Kesler are you?

That said I'd be surprised if they don't make it out of the first round.

Dirty players eventually get karma in their face. (We also have our own answer to the Sedins, too.)

Preds will know before gametime what they have to play for.

Not going to get to see the Leafs vs Canadiens game tonight, OR Stamkos possibly reaching goal number 60, cause I'm going to be in the front row of the ACC watching the Toronto Rock play the Edmonton Rush in their last home game of the season instead.

Oh, sure, drop us now for that hussy named "Box Lacrosse".
I've actually been to two Rock games already this season. The home opener against Calgary and a horrible loss to Washington Stealth.
I can enjoy both.
Besides, I'll be back for the Playoffs. Still picking Boston for the East.

Blackhawks beat the Red Wings in a shootout, meaning Nashville is the 4 seed, Detroit the 5, and Chicago the 6.

Stamkos gets the Richard, Malkin the Ross.

Yanno, theoretically three of the four Central Division teams could end up in the Western Semis... Saint Louis beats San Jose, Chicago beats Phoenix, Nashville and Detroit... If Vancouver beats the Kings, the winner of NAS/DET could end up facing another Central rival in the WC Semis... and if Chicago upsets Vancouver, it'd be an all-Central conference final.

Well, it's a little past the 1/4 mark of the season and for the most part the season is unfolding as I expected.

Originally I had:
Division winners
PIT VAN
BOS CHI
WAS SJS
Division contenders
BUF ANA
PHI LAK
TBL DET
Squeeking into the playoffs
NYR MIN
TOR DAL
Just falling short
CAR EDM
MTL COL
NJD STL
Out of contention
FLA PHO
WIN CAL
OTT NAS
NYI CBJ

So wtf Florida and Anaheim?
So how did I do?

East
NYR - Wow, wtf?
BOS - Ah yiss
FLO - OK who let these guys in here?
PIT - Well, didn't win the Div but Crosby missed so much time.
PHI - right about where I said they would
NJD - Wow
WAS - close fight for their division so not too far off
OTT - wow
BUF - slightly surprising, wonder if the concussion to Miller cost them just enough points
TBL - their goaltending dissappeared
WIN - they fought awful hard, but the travel was just too much for them, great year though and profitable!
CAR - expected
TML -
NYI - expected
MTL - expected and will repeat for a few years

West
VAN - do they have the toughness for the finals this year?
STL - wow I was so right to begin the year, then Hitchcock arrived and damn!
PHO - pleasantly surprised
NAS - happy to see this, I really expected Rinne to miss a lot of time due to Prongeritis
DET - not bad
CHI - not bad
SJS - weird, thought they would be a few positions higher
LAK - lets see if all that money will make a difference
CAL - please trade Iggy to a decent team and Kipper to the Leafs
DAL - hmmm, don't know
COL - next year baby
MIN - expected better
ANA - what happened?!
EDM - expected
CLB - expected

So 10 / 16 for play off picks. Somebody get me a TSN analyst position pronto!

1st up, Edmonton? Again?

And now my world famous, highly sought after 1st round playoff picks!

VAN
STL
CHI
NAS

NYR
BOS
NJD
PIT - though I think that this series will be so brutal that it will not matter who wins

A bit disappointed in Weber. I like and respect him as a player, and that was just not cool. That was Pronger uncool.

Just an ugly game from beginning to end...I hope we get better officiating going forward, for both sides. But lucky bounces are part of the playoffs and whatnot. And that last goal by Bourque was a beauty.

Plus I guess it could be worse. I could be a Pens fan :troll face that I apparently can't do because I'm on an iPad:

...This, of course, coming from a fan of a team that has Todd ####ing Bertuzzi on their roster.

Weber may get a game out of that, max. I'm leaning more towards a big fine. Hank skated away and is probably damn lucky he didn't get a diving call.

Shea did send a bit of a message, though: "We're not your little brother anymore."

I don't pick the roster, so I won't get into the whole Bertuzzi thing. And I'm not calling for Weber's head, I just said I was disappointed...but calling a dive on Hank there is nonsense.

Regardless, congrats on winning game 1, you guys were the better team. The homer in me forces me to believe the Wings will win in 6 but I could just as easily see Preds in 5. I really, really wanted nothing to do with this series.

$2500 fine for Weber, no suspension as expected.

Helm is out for the season.

Bitz to have hearing today on his hit.
