I've only been a round him for a few minutes. His job will be retrieving. So I've not picked a name yet. So I am approaching you guys for suggestions.

The name will have to be one that will not make me look like an ass when calling in public. Hence, not "Whoopie" or "Dammit." (I actually had a dog named Dammit once.)

I am a firm believer that dogs should get people names. the dogs my family has had have been Luke, Emma, Charlie, and Lucy. People names, man. I'm telling you.

That would be good if I were getting another German Shepherd.

I think Lab's need something a little happy sounding. I was leaning to Ralphie. So I could do an Art Carney Imitation to call him, "HEY, HEY RALPHIE BOY!"

I vote for the name.... Sir Honey Badger von Badass, Lord of Fluffyness. Though some would call him...Tim for short.

How about Richelieu, to go with your naming conventions? Like, Canada is half french anyway. You could use the shorthand Ritchie in polite company, and there are quite a number of famous people to whom the shorthand fits. So plenty of possibilities to find some pithy phrase for most occasions, and Ritchie sounds quite fun to boot while Richelieu is suitably ominous.

I was chatting about Full Metal Jacket with a friend... Pyle might be a cool name. But then I don't really want to train him like I'm a Drill Instructor.

So many obscure pop culture references...

If you would be into playing Orks in Warhammer 40,000, I'd say Git Finder (with a Cockney accent): "All ah needz for me WAAGH! is me gun and me git finder!"

If you believe in the present trend of giving weird-ass names to children, go that way with dogs: Pussy. I'd love to hear you call that out in the open :D

If you're into Nostalgia Critic... Balzac ;) Or Boomer. Or CHUCKA NORREEEES!!

Fnordbear already stole my chance for an ostentatious name and Monty Python references.

What about Smith? I like the idea of a dog called Smith.

That's even a nice title for something! "A dog called Smith"
voiced by will smith..

I like people names too Tommy, Sammy, usually something ending in Y.

How about Daisy? Who knows, it might even end up netting you a giant diamond that way.
