[Webcomic] PVP Discussion

Bill Amend has been making daily deadlines for most of my lifetime. I really think it would help to improve Kurtz's image is he just shut the fuck up on things he doesn't have a freaking clue about.

You know these guys are buddies, right? Like they are ribbing each other in a public way? Context is everything, people.

Except when you put it on a mass audience level like that, with no context, you look like a dipshit.
If you heard some of the banter my friends and I throw at each other even in public you'd think I was an asshole, too. I'm all for cracking on Scott when he deserves it. I don't think this is one of those times.

Me and my friends joke around petty meanly and if someone came in out of connect they would probably think we hate each other. But I would not hold it against them for thinking that since I openly tormented my friends and family and that they don't know anything about me. It is just the price for going around and teasing someone even lovingly. So if someone thinks Kurtz is being a dick for acting like he is Kurtz has no one to blame but himself. Besides it's not like Kurtz hasn't made comments like this about other people and not in a joking way. And I am not saying this cause I hate Kurtz I am rather impartial when it comes to PVP and Kurtz but I think he openly set himself up for people to have the reaction they are having.

Please excuse any errors I typed this up on my phone

Annoying as the "welp, time for a new plot!" thing is, I liked today's comic, mostly because I've had conversations almost exactly like this at game nights.

EDIT: Also, the Skull-hoodie is pretty funny.

I compare the plot changes in PvP to a sitcom that follows the adventures of the different cast members. Sometimes, it's easy to accept and, sometimes, it's not. Perhaps there's a reason he jumped storylines. I doubt that that was the last we will see of Francis and his current arc. Treating PvP like a sitcom, with all of the strengths and faults inherent in that method of storytelling, has made accepting what it is that much easier.

I, too, agree with Dave about the tweet. Funny, but not inappropriate.

I dunno, I felt like the Marcy plotline was pretty well wrapped for the moment. Francis tried following Lucille's advice, Marcy threw a drink at him for being an ass, Francis saw where Lucille's methods had gotten her. The immediate story is over, the thread will be picked up at a later date.

This was how I figured it went also, I mean it could go into the date itself, or another Marcy/Francis fight, but that'd drag the story out another few weeks and I can't imagine that's what he had planned for now. If anything this might be something to flesh out Val a bit more or just a diversion before more Francis/Marcy.

Call me crazy, but I'm actually kinda interested to see how Val homies get fleshed out here. It'll be cool to see Val as something besides Skull's girl or a dwarf's progeny, and see how she interacts with her friends.

If I found out my girlfriend was a wearing a hoodie that looked like my skin, I would be gone. Like moved across the country gone.

Except that there seemed to be a hint of character growth about to happen for Marcy and Francis and their relationship... and that got put on hiatus like Elf Only Inn.

As for Val and friends... I repeat my continued dislike for Alan and his similarities to Sheldon Cooper. Both are avid gamers, lean, tall and completely antisocial and pretentious. Only Sheldon is somewhat endearing in his demeanor, while Alan just comes across like someone you would want to tie to the business end of a truck and drive it off the cliff.

No. LOLbat is the worst thing to happen to PVP since, well everything after the wedding arc and up until Jase's temporary reappearance then shit again since then.

Where does he get his feedback? A few emails? Twitter responses? We all know he doesn't have a large forum with people actually giving him feedback so he's just making it up as he goes.

I think the difference is that are the people who actually LIKE Lolbat (like, say, me) but that basically nobody likes Shucky, even if he's not as annoying to the people who dislike him.

What I'd like to know is, what is that thing on the fat gamer's face? Between and a little below his eyes, above his mouth, is that a pringle? Did someone glue a potato chip to his face? That has to be the worst drawn nose I've ever seen, stick figures included.

As for Shecky... well, his introduction was corny as hell, but he's grown on me since. I guess it's mostly due to the fact that whenever Shecky's around, we get to see some more fantastical and magical elements in the strip - like the various fantasy creatures, or the witch guy who runs the gaming store.

But I guess there's no chance of seeing those again, since PvP is basically now a sitcom in webcomic form.

Soliloquy

I just realized something... Val's going to be roleplaying Binwin Bronzebottom, isn't she? Because Kurtz has this strange idea that Binwin is somehow interesting.

We all know that the only interesting character from that roleplaying group was Jim Darkmagic.
