Weird, I didn't realize Loki was adopted. I was under the assumption he was kidnapped at birth by Odin and raised in deception. I had felt bad for all the children who have been abducted and raised by those who were not their biological family but now I can sleep at night. My biggest fear is someone like Elizabeth Smart would have seen Thor and broke down knowing the horror Loki lived as she was abducted as well.
And I saw the movie again today and it's better the second time around.
I loved what they did with the Hulk. I could never see anyone else playing Bruce Banner now. I think if Norton would have been Banner it would not have worked very well. Interviews with Joss he's stating he would like to do a more intimate Avengers for the next film instead of trying to go bigger. I wish he could get the XMen franchise and redo the Dark Phoenix saga.
I wouldn't mind a more intimate movie with Black Widow! And Maria Hill! And maybe Pepper Potts too!

Actually, out of the three, I actually find Gwyneth Paltrow the most attractive. She just seems, I dunno, nicer.
Kurtz is getting his two cents off of the Avengers, "Joss Whedon is my master now" t-shirt is now on the front page of PvP. I wondered how long it would take for that shirt to come back around.

Okay, I was feeling well enough to go out so I went and saw the movie.
I. Frickin'. Loved. It.
And I make no excuses for that. The action was solid, the humor was there to make me actually guffaw out loud, and I just loved the way the different dysfunctional superhero personalities kept bouncing off of each other. Okay, I would have enjoyed a bit more introspection from Bruce Banner and a little explanation on the whole Loki's staff thing, but to me the movie provided what it promised: a fun, action-packed superhero movie bringing together the various Marvel heroes we've seen in the past few years.
Hell, the movie even surprised me by actually making me care about the characters and giving some of them more of an edge than I expected.
So in my book, the Avengers went into my personal Top Three of superhero movies, alongside the first Iron Man and Captain America.

I actually went a little "Nooo" when Loki killed Coulson, but also smiled when our favourite SHIELD agent managed to say the last word with the Destroyer gun prototype. And Nick Fury? In the previous movies, he's just been this guy in the background... now we got to see him manipulating the Avengers and the council, and generally getting a better picture of who the director really was.

The "what if the boys pretended to be girly" picture is funny and all, but I have to roll my eyes every time somebody gripes about that sort of thing in a non-humorous way. It's like they don't understand that the behaviors and physical attributes of what constitutes attractiveness differs along genders. That masculine and feminine are more than just words.

Finally saw it today, and it's just great. Also, that mid-credit surprise, yessssssss.
First, it is a good thing that the boy is not "in character." Or he would be bashing Loki with the shield.

We took my cousins to see this today. On the way over I realized they'd not seen any of the other movies, so I asked them what they knew of each character--they knew plenty. And during the movie they were picking out who was who before costumes or names were dropped. They had fun.
I could tell most people in the theater had seen the movie already just by reactions vs opening weekend. Seeing the movie again myself, I have to say, you notice things you didn't the first time. Pacing, character, cinematography. So watching it and taking into account the stuff Charlie was saying, I found by the end that
he's still totally wrong! The movie was awesome the second time and I noticed a lot more details and care that I hadn't noticed the first time, being so swept up in it. I'm also impressed at how the pacing just shoots from scene to scene. Doesn't feel like a two and a half hour movie. Kids had a blast, we had fun a second time around, and here's hoping it tops out yet another weekend.

That 4 billion dollar purchase from Disney looks like it was a good investment. Not sure what percentage Disney gets off this film but toy sales will help recoup some of that 4 billion. I'm hoping that they do a few Pixar films using Marvel characters. Would love to see that. But I wonder what if Warner Bro. had purchased Marvel instead. Marvel and DC would have been under the same company. Would have been interesting to see the two worlds merge.
Personally, of all the Marvel properties that I'd love to see Pixar or Disney do, it's Power Pack. That just seems prime for children's entertainment and I'm very surprised it hasn't become a household name.
Pixar should really stay the fuck away from Marvel stuff. Pixar needs creative freedom to do it's thing, which is would never receive while working with such major properties that they didn't create.
