Legend of Korra

K, just finished reading The Promise Part 2. It didn't do anything with Zuko's Mom like was hinted in Part 1. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen in Part 3, which is out in September.

October, I thought? At least, that was what the Amazon date said. Anyway, how did it compare to the first part? Is Zuko still being a stupidhead as usual?

Back of the book says September. They may have moved it up.

It's pretty good. Half the book is about Toph and Sokka getting Toph's Metalbending students ready for their match with the members of the rival Firebending school. Aang and Katara spend time with Airbender wannabees that are likely to be the fore-bearers of the spiritual brothers on Air Temple Island. As for Zuko...

Actually, Ozai is giving him good advice that is perfectly reasonable for the situation at hand... especially considering that Ozai was 100% right about the Earth King sending in his army instead of playing peace broker. If anyone's being the idiot, it's the Earth King. Ozai may be a manipulative, unflinching maniac, but he does care about the well being of the Fire Nation.

Also, it looks like Mai just walked out on Zuko... and that Suki may have a thing for him. But that could just be ship teasing, as per usual.

Lin got her bending taken away! Noooooooooo....

Also zuko's grandson is named Iroh but jeez who cares. Lin :(

Looks like the shit just hit the fan.

Lin's DOWN. That was a ballsy move to remove the bending of such a high profile character... makes me wonder if next season is going to be about looking for a way to return someone's bending..i possibly because I think Korra's about to lose hers.

Also, Zuko's son controls the UA Fleet?!? AND he's voiced by Zuko's voice actor!? I think the fan girls just all cried out at once!

I think it's his grandson, on second thought. Which would make sense, given that Zuko's older than Aang so he probably had kids earlier, and considering Tenzin is already in his late fourties, it works out pretty well.

Possible. We know that Zuko's still kicking around (or at least he hasn't be explicitly stated to be dead), even if his daughter is the current Fire Lord. It's likely that it's one of those options at any rate.

The only question is where or not Zuko and Mai get back together after their fight in The Promise Part 2.

It's probably because I'm still nerding out on game of thrones, but I want Amon and his chi-blockers' heads on spikes.

Also, mustache-tazer-sticks is blasting off again!

What surprised me...

was when the kids came to the rescue... and they were admonished for getting into the fight at their young age... that none of the kids said "Grandpa Aang was fighting at our age."

I must have heard wrong, but I thought this episode (as awesome as it was) was supposed to be a big, 3-episode long season finale?

They advertised the big 2-episode season finale as early as last week. Easily understandable confusion.

Gusto , that picture ain't showing.

Other than that... HOLY S*IT!

"Dear?"

Tenzin bendin' like hell!

Mecha massacre!

Jinora, Ikki and Meelo (goddamn MEELO THE FART MONSTER!) kicking ass!

Naga don't take no shit from no pansy-ass Lieutenant!

LIN, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

General Iroh!

Okay, gotta calm down... must not go rabid fanboy.

I have to admit I was a little worried when they showed Rohan(sp?) so early... Usually the newborn baby scene happens at the very end. But what I thought to be the "Awwww" scene was just a breather, a touch of hope before things got from bad to worse.

That said, there are moments that always remind me why I keep watching Avatar (both the original series and Korra). If it was just a bunch of people doing magical martial arts, it would be boring as hell. But when you see the people interact, the emotions and the motivations... that's what cinches it for me. There's Tenzin, clearly uncomfortable asking Lin to watch over Pema and the kids because of their shared history; you can just feel Asami's resentment brewing as she goes further and further away from the smiling daredevil to a silent, brooding jilted lover; and the look in Lin's eyes before she takes the plunge to give Tenzin and his family time to escape... I swear, I felt my heart break.

Well...

Technically their grandfather was about 100 years older than they are, but I see your point. However, Aang was fighting because 1) He was the only one who could and 2) The lives of millions of people all over the world were at stake.

Also, Fart Bending is an entertaining style.
