[TV] Winter HAS COME! - A Game of Thrones

So in July I bought season 1 on BluRay, despite not owning a BluRay player, because I found it brand new at a book liquidators for slightly less than any other store was selling the DVD set.

I am jonesing to watch it so bad right now. I really need to get a BluRay player...

Benioff and Weiss say in a statement, "We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush. In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."
Okay, I guess that makes sense

I just finished reading the fifth book, and rather than post details in spoilers and stuff, I'll just say that I miss books three and earlier, where things actually happened and I gave a shit about more than 10% of the chapters.

As to the tv show, I watched most of the first season and just couldn't get into it. Just felt like a shallow version of the books, and while it's cool to see it on screen, I'd rather just read the books again. So I did!

The second season deviates enough to make it it's own thing. It's a lot less of a retelling of the book than the first season.

I don't think you need to, as it's kind of a passive aggresive way to go about things. Thanks for the info though!
You're welcome. After 15 years though, I think passive aggressiveness is pretty restrained for people not having the reflex to automatically google instead of type a reply that begins with "who is/what is."

Yes but that kills the conversation then, doesn't it?
Not really. I think in this case, for example, it would have simply skipped the "who is" part and gone right to the "Why did they include a small time Irish actor with only one other recurring role, that of Sir Gawaine on the Merlin miniseries? Has there been a rumor of his inclusion next season or something?"

... and sounding very informed and intelligent.

Why wouldn't you just google that?

Because that's a more detailed query that requires you to delve into multiple pages and do actual time-consuming browsing to look for something that may not actually exist, as opposed to a simple who is/what is question. That doesn't compare with the ease of access of information gleaned from the very first link when googling an actor's name (which is usually their IMDB profile).

If you google a name and nothing indicative immediately comes up, then I dare say nobody would berate you with an LMGTFY link.

You got the answer pretty quick.
No, apparently he's just a small time celebrity who spends a lot of his time on twitter talking about how much he loves game of thrones.

Just finished the first book. Tywin is still my favourite character. Tyrion I find to be less agreeable than the TV show. I like Catelyn a lot more in the book than on TV, Jon Snow needs to go away.
