No. Funcom is doing it. they have trouble with backing, yeah, but they ALWAYS come up with something new and interesting. If anything, you know for a fact it's not a WoW clone.

quests are repeatable on a 24 hour cooldown.
Oh, I know. I'm just trying to do everything at least once. Speaking of which, did you do Something Wicked?

I got into the cell and read the clue, but I couldn't find the White Ravens. Do I still need to be dead to get them to show up?

Are you allowed to talk about closed beta, or even admit that you're in it? Are nerd assassins now heading for your house?

Too late now I guess, you may as well keep telling us all about the game.

*EDIT* Apparently I got a beta invite a while ago but because I never check my e-mail I missed it. Registered the code and I'm now downloading the game. Did not read the e-mail closely enough to see if it was open or super secret closed beta. So nerd assassins may or may not be coming to my house too.

Really want to, but with all the things going on in my life at the moment, I barely have enough time to play on a PSP on the long drives.

Shame they didn't have an open beta. I don't buy games I cannot try.
They had like 6 open beta weekends. Every time they had one, they told you EXACTLY where to go for a code to get in on their website. Also, if you applied for closed beta access, you were guaranteed access to AT LEAST the last weekend (two codes for it even!). This was on top of their Secret Wars Facebook game, where if you reached a certain rank (which was fairly easy to do), they would just GIVE you closed beta access.

There really isn't any reason you couldn't have tried it. They made the beta process as open and honest as they could. Hell, if you had said something, I'd have given you codes because I had some I didn't need for the last weekend.

Anyway, it doesn't matter: They'll be giving away trial accounts to people who own the game soon, just like SWTOR did. Just ask one of the forumites that play to give you one, I'm sure they'll oblige.

Sounds good.

And I'm too busy to care to search online for their schedule. There's 1000 MMOs out there and they are a dime a dozen to me.

Plus Skyrim.

So... I caved and bought this.

Like I need yet another distraction. I'm already playing SWTOR, WoW, and LoL full time.

So the trial will be for 3 days? The hell.
No, the trial will be for 24 hours. These are only 24 hour keys since it's launch. Be patient. Most MMOs don't do 7 day trials until a few months after launch. That being said, your not being limited in any way. You get the full game, it's just only for 24 hours, or at least that's the impression they've given.

My advice? When your opted to go to the Ability Screen (N), there is a tab on the left that says "Decks". Pick one you like and toggle the "Show Deck abilities" thing. This will give you a guide of how you'd want to build that character on the ability wheel. You won't even get CLOSE to finishing the deck in 24 hours, but at least you won't be clueless.

What's a deck?
Decks are kind of like Classes, only they are optional. It's a set of 7 active skills (attacks, spells, defensive abilities) and 7 passive skills (buffs, effects) that work well together. You don't GET these skills, you still have to earn them, but the Deck shows you some skills that synergize well and if you complete the deck, you get a special costume. It's kind of like a beginner's guide to character building.

For instance, I picked the Illuminati's Thug deck, which is a Sword/Hammer deck for tanking. It has some nice AOE skills that draw aggro and buff your defenses, a powerful hammer attack for dealing damage, a field effect that does a DoT and draws aggro, and two defensive clicks that make you harder to hit/harm and restore some health. All the support skills are for increasing aggro generating, making the hammer stronger, and making the defensive skills have more effects.

Each faction has different Decks and costumes. It's worth checking out for your first time playing.

I didn't even know about decks, I've been freestyling.

I'll have to check them out.

If you have the key and put it in, it should be on your account page. Should say something like "Download The Secret World Client" or something. That's how it was in beta anyway.
This is true. The 24 hour timer doesn't start until you successfully log into your character for the first time.
