New Picture Thread

Whaaaaaaat? I've never seen that. Is that really becoming a trend in Seattle?
No, it's not becoming a trend in Seattle. It was becoming a trend 2 or 3 years ago (at least), now it's just the way things are. Coffee shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, book stores, you name it, as long as it's not a state or city run business, if they don't allow dogs they get a really harsh review. If they allow dogs, but don't specifically have water bowls or dog treats, or (in some cases) dog beds, they get a better review than if they didn't allow dogs at all, but they're not likely to get a good review. And it'd be one thing if the dog-obsessive were a small number of the populace, but they're annoyingly great in number and/or vocal.

That's fucking bullshit. I absolutely love dogs, and I have two myself. There's no way in hell I would expect businesses to let my dogs come in without a good reason (pet food store for example), much less expect water bowls and treats. That's... wow. Just wow.

Hella obnoxious.

Note to self: never go to Seattle without at least an abundance of Claritin. The idea of a restaurant being chock full of dogs is nauseating to me.

Okay... I can barely stomach the idea of spas for our canine friends, but what Gared just said... Man, that's just complete bullshit. Not just for the sake of people with allergies, but in general.

It's bad enough that some parents completely zone out while eating out, leaving their precious little darlings playing tag inside the restaurant or not listening to the whiny little runt throw a tantrum with high enough pitch to shatter glass... but then have to deal with those annoying little yapping things that some people use as substitutes for children? Or better yet, dogs that may not be social enough for a busy place like a restaurant. Or to go the deep end, not properly house-trained.

Double that for bookstores.

Disclaimer: the poster likes both children and dogs, but believes firmly that there are places where neither of the above belong without a good reason and/or parental/owner supervision.

I don't see that dog thing becoming popular here. My mom works at a little casino and she got in trouble for letting someone bring his dog in and they don't even serve food.

I love my pets but yeah I don't want them in a food service place.

To me it kinda depends on the dog culture of the neighborhood. If dog owners ostracize "pet parents" that have out of control dogs, it is not an issue. I would never have an issue in a restaurant with any of the German Shepherds that I have owned. My current Lab (still a puppy) probably not. He is just not calm enough yet to handle crowds.

Also bring your own damn water for your own damn dogs. I have a canvas bowl for when I took my dogs on cross country hikes. It should be the same if you are going to spend the entire day hanging out in town with your dog. Also the dog can sit on the damn floor for the 30 minutes that you are in a coffee shop.

I have not problem with that because it is a seeing eye horse. It just sucks that it caused travel delays when the company had to take so long to clean out the smell of the droppings.

The dunk tank went smashingly...

For the ball throwers :(

More pictures to follow, but this one is the most Public Relationsy posted yet.

As a strident dog enthusiast and owner, I completely support any restaurant who doesn't want to allow pets.

In other news, there's a horse in the first class cabin, and it just dropped a load. Can't say anything though! Cause it's a service horse.
That same article goes on to say that the cleaning staff over reacted, the majority of the mess was cleaned up by the animals owner, and that none of the other passengers seemed to mind.

But hey, don't let me get in the way of your rant.

Didn't think this classifies for the Awesome Videos thread, so I'm gonna slap this one here. Medieval Market, the Final Dance.

Sorry for not posting any pictures yet, I've been kinda busy. Plus, I'm still trying to pick the best pics out of the several hundred my parents took over a five-day period.

Congrats, Nick. :)

I have 2 photos from the wedding, nothing from our professional yet. That's my little brother in the middle. The opening speech he wrote was beautiful.

I'm working on a banner design and I am going to draw Frank and OC in it. I know Officer_Charon has pictures in here to use as reference, but I don't recall any of Frank. So if I don't find them by the time I'm finished drawing OC, I'm just going to draw Dudley Do Right (Sorry, Frank)

Well I can't promise you'll look like you. I'll do my best. You won't be Dudley Do-Right'd

But I am putting you in the reds, naturally.

This is the banner with Jay and Dave fighting in the gladiator arena, just for clarity.
