[Gaming] Elder Scrolls 5 - Dawnguard is HERE!

I have to brag a little bit. I came across a Giant and Frost Dragon fighting last night, and one-shotted each of them. Stealth/bow with Dragonbone bow and arrows... for the OP.

Ahh... then I'll be waiting to get those then. I'm not paying 20 bucks for Dawnguard.
After having played through it twice, I feel it was worth it. The added storyline is engaging and fun, the new equipment and spells integrate nicely, and overall it feels like a full expansion more than DLC.

Though, I'll agree that it's still pricey at $20. And of course, people's opinions and experience will differ.

I'm probably going to wait for a GOTY or ultimate edition myself (and might have to considering how long it's taking for Dawnguard to come to PS3).

Bethesda has already said that there is a significant chance that it won't be coming at all. They think it might be a hardware/OS limitation of the PS3. Remember, PS3 Skyrim had a shitload of problems to begin with.

Did it? I didn't have any issues with it as long as I kept my save files limited. I had way more problems with the Fallout games and even those were minor.

Man, the fan modded Dragonbone weapons looked better than the Bethesda version. SURPRISE!

Samples of the original well done mod:

The 2 handed hammer for example is amazing in the original mod compared to this in the official version.

For everyone? I don't remember that happening.
It seemed to be a widespread problem, but it depended on your data cache. It was also fixed in the next patch.

My wife and I always cringe when there's a new patch. The pre-Dawnguard one didn't seem to introduce any problems.

Finished the main quest tonight, though there's still a ton of stuff (in fact, most of the major quest lines) that I've not done. I spend far too much time when playing this game just roaming the wilderness, exploring random caves, doing miscellaneous quests, but that's what I enjoy. There's no pressure.

On the end:
Catching the dragon was cool, flying to the temple, going to Sovngarde, gathering the heroes, the battle--all that was cool. And coming back to the howling of dragons at the Throat of the World was great, but it was the closest we get to any fanfare. There's really nothing happening. It's like the end of any other quest--it just happens and it's done. I feel like there should've been some sort of ceremony, some ending of some kind, at least cutting to credits like Fallout 3 had the decency to do, but no, that story just stops. I did talk to the Greybeards, and it was a nice speech, but still, not an ending. Kind of falls flat there.

I don't think I'll continue with this character except to finish the Companions quests, but another I might just not start the dragons quest.

I agree. The main quest ending was flat.

The game is really really good. Not perfect but I'll take this sort of game over a COD or Final Fantasy game any day of the week.

Now this is the part where I remind you there's some really good PC mods that have custom created storyline... and it's GOOD.

All the -main- quest endings are flat. There's nothing celebrated at the end of ANY of them.

You still get arrested for stealing a mug of ale from an INN after saving the world four times over.

However, the journey to the endings of all these major quests? Worth it.

I honestly don't think the story in Skyrim will end until they do the eventual Thalmor Invasion one. The politics of the Thalmor just have too much effect on the region to not have it addressed in playable content.

And even then when it does end NO ONE WILL NOTICE.

I wished I found a way for the guards to completely not talk to me about my skills. I can understand commenting what I'm equipped with but to see me walk up and go... "Brew me some ale."

WTF.
