Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

He might've profiled by home. For example if someone is from a poor neighborhood, toss their ballot because Poor people tend to vote democrat.

Well, it's good the perpetrator has been arrested. I wonder how he decided which registrations to toss - from what I've heard, party affiliation isn't listed on the form, so was he just picking out names that "sounded" democrat?
I see you missed the video of an official GOP canvasser only registering Romney voters, huh?

He wasn't from the area though, he was from Pennsylvania... maybe somebody told him what the poor neighborhoods were?

It's entirely likely they have a database setup that matches names to addresses, then matches them against things like home value or median income of the surrounding area. This kind of information isn't exactly hard to come by and could be acquired months in advance. It would also be HIGHLY valuable for targeted ads and such.

All that prep work to just put them in a garbage bag and throw them in a dumpster in broad daylight, with witnesses.

It usually IS the dumb guy that gets conspiracies uncovered. If someone hadn't seen him, none of this would have ever been caught.

That being said, this was likely a spur of the moment thing by a local branch, misusing the analytical software they'd been given by the party to target their phone calls. If they had the actual, full backing of the party they'd have gotten the paper shredded or recycled by a party affiliate who would have kept their mouth shut, as opposed to just dumping it in a dumpster on the street.

Names that sounded Black/Hispanic I'm sure.

Why is it that the side of the political spectrum most vocally worried about voter tampering is the side that keeps getting caught doing it? Color me cynical, but official county-issued voter registration cards that happen to have the wrong date printed on them (after the election, of course) and only in one language seems highly unlikely to be an innocent mistake.

They've been hitting Ohio hard with getting people to vote early this year. Dems have sent me 10 different notifications that I could get an absentee ballot. They know what's up.

You're right, I completely mis-spoke. Let me rephrase:

My D vote is awash in R racist votes of the people I've met, I'm the minority when it comes to D around here and every wealthy person that I've met in the past 2 years has openly exclaimed their racist views on hating Obama. It's been insane how open they are about it with me (because I'm white complected they seem to think I'll side with them) but due to my profession I have to just nod and keep doing my job. This has been my personal experience and by no means a blanket statement on all Republicans or Texans.

Ugh... don't even get me started on my Republican father. Referred to taking a dump as "dropping Obama's kids off at the pool" last week.

I wish I could say that's the worst I've heard.

It's pretty ridiculous how openly racist people can still be these days. In secluded groups amongst their kind? Sure. Open in public with people around? That's ballsy. Then again the ones I meet are so loaded with cash they could care less what other people think of them.

He wasn't saying republicans are racist. He was saying that racists are republican. Big difference.
So I laughed, then joked, then wondered.

If someone is truly racist, wouldn't that mean there's no way they'd vote Democratic anyway?

My brother, who spent almost as much time here in California as I have, was telling me about the virtuous Confederacy and how the American Civil War was an unfair act of aggression. He started it off with "I guess slavery was bad and all, but..."

He also refers to hip-hop and rap as jungle music.

I know your pain.

I'll tell you guys one thing. being in Asia for nearly 5 years has put this whole racism thing in perspective for me. From Korea and Japan's "Pure blood" theory (it's as bad as it sounds) to China's Darlie (Black man toothpaste)

America might have some racism, but we aren't doing a bad job at keeping a functioning multicultural society, all things considered.

Romney needs to pull more than Ohio to win. He needs like 3 or 4 of the swing states and one of them HAS to be Ohio. This election is Obama's to lose right now.

Also, I totally saw Marine 1 and it's escort today while helping my brother move.
