Holy crap, looking at Bulbapedia:

I may need to EV-train one of these when I hit end game.
They also have pretty decent HP. This is mitigated by the fact that Darmanitan has low Defense and Special Defense, meaning it's entirely possible to get one-shotted by an equally powerful attacker. If your going to EV train one of these, you pretty much need to focus on Speed to get the most out of them. Darumaka and Darmanitan basically define the Glass Cannon archetype. I fully expect him to get banned soon.

But yeah, having a properly built one of these pretty much trivializes the later part of the game. Great power, great speed, and a moveset that includes all the physical end game sets. Once I transfer over my Magnazone, I'll have a great tag team for 2-on-2 fights, assuming that's still the official tournament setting.

I don't actually have the game, but based on Darmanitan's base stats, it looks powerful but not ban-worthy. Definitely a glass cannon, the normal form could easily get one-shotted on the switch if your opponent predicts properly, while the zen form's poor speed puts it at a disadvantage (mitigated somewhat by its good defenses though).

This'll probably be a popular pokemon to use competitively, but not enough to ban it. But then again, Garchomp was moved to the uber tier, so what do I know.

Considering the recent events at The Escapist concerning the show Extra Credits (and by the sounds of it, many, many more people working there), it might be that Yahtzee is the only guy on the site who actually gets paid on time. Many of the other creators on the site are apparently owed thousands of dollars in back pay and The Escapist is dragging their feet in paying them.

Then again, I'd wager Yahtzee gets paid on time because he's the only reason the site gets visited.

That's about the jist of it I think. That whole thing with Extra Credits is incredibly shady too. Expecting donors of a charity to get the artist the surgery she needs to continue working to foot the debt that Escapist owes the creators. That's...REALLY....fucked up.

It's worse than that... the Escapist believes that any overage belongs to THEM and should have been used to make more episodes, not to create an Indie publishing label... even though the creator told the fans repeatedly that that is what he'd be doing with it.

Yeah, I've been trying to follow it as best I can with my recent move, but to be honest, the more I hear about it, the less I want anything to do with The Escapist. I've started watching a number of their other shows, like stuff MovieBob does and of course, ExtraCredits.

In fact, I remember ExtraCredits back when it was just a one-video thing on YouTube done for some sort of a school project or..something. I was overjoyed that they'd be doing it as a regular thing on Escapist.

From what I understand, this is what happened:
-Barely getting paid (or at all). The two guys were working for free and paying artist Alison out of their own pockets. They were doing the videos out of love.
-Alison's arm needs surgery.
-Amazing amount of money raised for said surgery.
-EC decides to take the rest of the money to create an Indie publishing label for fellow, small-time game creators.
-Escapist wants 75% of that money raised, instead.
-EC drops out and continues on YouTube, until they can find a new home that will, you know, not be dicks.

So you're saying he didn't like it?
I'm saying he made valid points against the game while using a game that he does feel is superior and the reasons there in it. It wasn't one of his -Make fun of it for the sake of comedy- videos.

Yeah, I agree with him wholeheartedly.

Except for the part about buying that new shitty Doom 3 BFG thing. I have the old one, and it looks better than the new one as shitty as that is. There's a reason they removed the ability to buy the original version from Steam so people would plunk down a ridiculous sum of money for this new trash (that's also completely unmoddable).

I guess that means I don't agree with him wholeheartedly.

The bugs in Xcom's interface are keeping me from enjoying it, along with their bullshit that decides when you are and aren't allowed to save. Too bad, the actual game seems fun, if it wasn't hobbled by the glitches I keep experiencing. Nobody else seems to talk about that, though, so maybe it's just me.

Also - holy necro, the last time this thread was updated the agree button was still a thing!

Crazy how people can search to find and update threads instead of uselessly making new ones huh?

I'm surprised it wasn't locked. I was under the impression threads automatically locked after so much time went by.

I too am finding it hard to get into Xcom. I am trying classic because I really enjoyed the originals but classic mode is a devious way of saying that the AI gets 10 % aim and crit(I dont want to do normal because they it gives me bonus numbers I want somethin in bewteen.) Also I call BS on the fact that if I use up one of my movements to move my guy and he discovers aliens they get a free mov action to find cover. Lovely so they can get optimal on their return fire.

Not anymore. Dave killed that a long time back. Took a bit of the wind out of my sails it did. It was a lot more fun to necro things back when I was the only one (aside from mods) that could bring them back from the nether. :(

I like Modern Military FPSs. I like some of the scripted scenes. I like Shooting targets out of an AC-130. I don't go into it expecting Deus Ex. I expect popcorn flick-esque action and it's exactly what I get.

So you go into expecting what it already is, then great. Yahtzee prefers there to be more than that, hence the review. I tend to agree with him.
