Today is my birthday. Which while a momentous occasion in its own right, also marks the beginning of a new season. Yes, minter is coming, but today marks the official beginning of NOG SEASON BABY! It is tradition in my house to have the first nog on my birthday, so raise a glass!

Captain's Covid log; day 5: Still on heavy doses of decongestant and cough suppressant. Have now lost all sense of smell. What little joy could still be derived from having a variety of teas at the ready has been quashed. This sucks.

Related to the hurricane. The town in NL that we used to live in has been frequently featured on the news because of the amount of damage. Probably at least 1% of the population is now homeless because their houses are literally in the sea. We don't know, because parts of town are still cut off...

A big ole hunk of tree broke off right over my car, and ended up on the other side of the driveway without actually hitting the vehicle. Just got power and internet back after 8 hours or so without. No house damage.
