Online Dating, or How I Learned to Continue Worrying and Be Single

Whoa. Did not expect to see a thread I started 8 years ago when I got up today.

It's vanishingly unlikely. Cuddling, hugging, kissing, sex, etc, is the biggest factor. Prolonged physical contact is a near-necessary requirement.

    Random Video Game Crap

Who has Dark Souls opinions? I played the first one ages ago on the PS3 (I can't remember if I finished it), and was thinking of jumping into DS3 on my PS4. But then I thought maybe I should I buy the remaster of 1 and play 2 before I get into 3. Anyone have opinions/advice?

    Dead at Work. AMA?

I think I prefer Left 4 Dead to Back 4 Blood, but I still agree that 2 is enough, and maybe even one too many since L4D2 feels like DLC (or what I still sometimes call an expansion pack) to me. L4D2 will be the name of the droid in the Star Wars film I write.

    Dead at Work. AMA?

That is among the most badass reasons to have a scar. What 3 movies would you pick for the rest of your life, but: 1 has to be black & white 1 has to be from the 80s 1 has to be unpopular but you love it anyway?

    A generic religion thread.

Yeah, this is basically correct for Catholics, and that's the verse most cited for it. To be clear, it's not like "true Catholics" are in a state of grace all the time - a Catholic can be in a state of sin and not grace. If I commit a mortal sin and haven't gone to confession, then I shouldn't...

My wife is an x-ray tech and I can attest that non-flanged bases, even surprisingly long things that you wouldn't think would fit in an abdomen, do get real good n' stuck all up ins.

Depending on your phone and browser, ublock might work on it! It's not perfect but it has seriously cut down on the ads I get.

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

I mean, I agree completely. But the court wasn't ruling, as far as I can tell, on whether or not that was an option. I just feel the fact that some justice will be delivered is not an entirely bad thing. But I fully agree that if we give jurisdiction to a new territory, they should get all the...

Only in the case of non-Native residents. The territory returned in Oklahoma is overwhelmed with cases where a Native victim can't receive justice because the perpetrator was non-Native. It's been a legal black hole since the ruling. This will help people get some justice.

    [Brazelton] Roe v. Wade

That's what I'm trying to get at with Augustine. I think he was wrong, too. As for natural miscarriages, yes, that's tragic. But if there were a disease with a 50% mortality rate, you wouldn't agree it's okay to kill anyone with the disease, just because it often ends in death.

    [Brazelton] Roe v. Wade

I opposed abortion when I was an atheist, too. It seems to me that it is alive, and we shouldn't kill people. Just because odious people agree with me on something does not mean that I support them in general. I don't. If Donald Trump loves mozza sticks, well, me too, I still think he's a jerk...

    [Brazelton] Roe v. Wade

No, as I said, I think secular democracy is a good thing. This is a case where I think there is both scientific and philosophical reason to regard this as a human life. A fertilize egg will implant and grow into a person, barring natural abortion like a miscarriage, or unnatural abortion. It is...

    [Brazelton] Roe v. Wade

Even if it is, and I do think there's some scientific basis for the belief, my hypothetical isn't supposed to be a direct comparison, but rather... I can't pretend it's just an abstraction. Objectively, I think it's a human life. if I really believe it's a human life, then I can't risk being...

    [Brazelton] Roe v. Wade

The problem is that we believe there is a human life at stake. To us there's no difference than saying "Well your religion says you can't kill people, but don't force me to not kill people." I believe in secular democracy. I don't think that Christianity should be enshrined as law, or that...

    [Brazelton] Roe v. Wade

Well yeah, I don't even know about this one. I think about why it's called the Sin of Adam. I suppose it's because he was made first, but the Original Sin was a joint effort. I've heard people say semi-seriously that the 'real' Original Sin wasn't eating the fruit of knowledge of good and evil...
