So she's got a severe case of pneumonia on top of things, which they found out at the hospital. She's in a medically-induced coma at the moment, hooked up to about 8 bags and machines and stable. She'll stay that way for a few days, likely a week. She's in good hands and she's strong.

Mom's in the hospital with a diabetic coma. Got taken there in an ambulance, low pressure, breathing shallow but regular, pulse is good. On-boarded almost instantly. Dad's on his way to be with her.

I'm honestly at peace with it, but I'm not gonna go to my parents' in Quebec City for the Holidays this year. I'd have to take the train/bus, there's a serious influenza outbreak going on, along with COVID and a different third virus whose name escapes me, though that might be more local to us...

So, update: No radiation for now, but that’s a good thing: Things are going too well, there’s no justification for it. They want to wait and let the meds do their thing for another 3 months at least, then revisit. So follow-up appointment set for February, with a new CT scan and PET scan...

We’re out of the hospital. Global improvements to her condition, she’s responding really well to treatments, radiation therapy incoming to solidify the spine, as long as it’s a bunch of short stints, since the anti-tumoral agent doesn’t play nice with radiation therapy. So… We’re insanely happy.

We’re on our way to Montreal for my wife’s first follow-up appointment. I’ll confess to some trepidation but we’re confident. News will be good! Grateful for all the good vibes/prayers/positive energy you can spare, of course.
