I'm curious who here has met any celebs. I know Zen has a nice little list I'd like to see in detail. Was wondering whoelse around here has.

Personally:

I had a fanart of my Everquest 1 character done by Wendy Pini (of Elfquest fame)

I was about 5 feet away from Mel Gibson when he filmed "Payback".

I once waited on William Hung.

I met two pornstars in the changing room of the strip club I frequent. Their names escape me at the moment.

I met Elijah Wood at a comic convention, and made him laugh by talking about Sin City and Eternal Sunshine while pretending I didn't know LotR existed.

I also pissed off a bunch of goth kids while in the line to see Jhonen Vasquez by implying to a passerby that we were in line to get tickets for J. Lo.

I spoke on the phone once with Greg Rucka (novelist and comic book writer), one of my favourite writers of all time. I was working as a call center agent for car reservations and he called while in San Diego for the Comic Con. :D

I once met Scott Kurtz at a convention...

Why is everyone looking at me like that?

My dad was sitting next to Denzel Washington in the airport once.

I've talked to a bunch of people at festivals when I was in line for autographs - the guys from Testament and Symphony X. They're pretty cool.

I met/saw a lot of famous people when I worked in the casino industry. I've met all of the guys in the band Filter, Brian Setzer, Scott Weiland, Vince Neil, Randall Cunningham, Eric Lindros, Lawrence Taylor, Bobby Clark, Evander Holyfield, Jaromir Jagr, Dikembe Mutombo, and a bunch of the players from the Phillies back in the mid/late 1990's. I also met Merv Griffin and Donald Trump since I worked at both of their casinos.

When I was in 5th grade I met Willie Mays at an assembly at my school, too.

I met Lou Ferrigno at megacon. He is still in really, really good shape. Also, he's impossibly nice.

I also met Hulk Hogan as a kid. He was a frequent customer at my dad's shop, but I don't know if he was as well known then.

With this trend, it shouldn't be long before I meet Bruce Banner.

I hung out with Johnny Knoxville in a bar in Vancouver one night. Stood around, chatted, drank....he was plastered beyond belief and the swarm of women who crowded around him when he went on the dance floor was just ludicrous. He seemed to enjoy it though (He was ....really plastered)

I met Spock (Leonard Simon Nimoy) and had a 10 minute conversation with him at a Trek Convention in Richardson (he is AWESOME!)
I met and hang a few j-pop band members here at Akon, but can't remember the name at the moment.

I met Richard Bach (who is best known for writing Jonathon Livingston Seagull) for a career day when I was in high school. I've never read any of his books, except for one that he gave to my AP class to read for some critical feedback.

I saw Alan Thicke ride first class on my flight from Seattle to Reno once.

I almost met Jack Johnson but only got a signature cause he didn't feel like coming out to the VIP area.

I'm sure there's others but I'm not focused enough to remember any of them.

With Sundance rolling through here once a year and many celebs coming out here for ski vacations (or rehab) I've "seen" a few celebs but never really talked to them. The one I did talk to was Danny Trejo (My wife and I started next to him in a 5k a few years back). Really nice guy.

Still on the hunt for Kevin Smith.

when I as a small child I saw John Haggerty "Grizzly Adams" hanging out in a mall restroom with some yes men drinking beer.

I went to high school with Rodney Carrington
Competed in Speech Tournaments and football against Matthew McCaughnehey
Met at a FCA convention Jamie Foxx - had a great time and exchanged a couple of letters. I never knew he was Jamie Foxx until I saw him on Inside the Actor's Studio and he said that his name was Eric Bishop.

Had a brief conversation with Eddie Vedder back in the mid 90s when he toured with his ex-wife's band, Hovercraft. I was a teenager and told him a lame story about how Alive is what inspired me to play guitar. Said some other cheesy stuff. He's a really nice guy though...the conversation lasted maybe a handful of minutes, but its one nugget I've kept to myself for a long time.

I also met Creed after a show at the Bronco Bowl here in the Dallas area. They were a fresh band at the time...Scott Stapp was a huge let down. The lyrics to Creed, while cheesy, impressed me at that time and to find out the dude was so empty was a huge let down.

I haven't really had any to speak of - I once passed by the actual Patch Adams in an airport. I've had email contact with Nostalgia Critic.

...

Yeah, that's about all I can think of.

My dad, however, has had more luck with this sort of thing. He was in the movie Definitely Maybe and got to meet Ryan Reynolds for a short time (My dad's the Bill Clinton that he passes in the park near the very end of the movie). I know he's also been about 5 feet away from the actual Bill Clinton at one point as well. If he's met anyone else, I don't really know about it, but I'm fairly certain that he's run into more.

Korn minus Jonathan Davis
Lou Ferigno
Ron Perlman
Doug Jones
Selma Blair
GDT
Luke Goss
Bruce Campbell
Ed McMahon
Adam West

I think that's it. I'm not going to count any of the comic artists/writers. I did breathe the same air as Stan Lee once and that was awesome.

Oh! I almost forgot two of the most important!
Jason Mewes
Brian O'Halloran

and the woman who played Grams on Charmed. Jennifer Rhodes.

I met Scott Kurtz at a convention back in 2006 and he drew a cool sketch for me of Skull and Brent while I stood there like an excited little fanboy.

The coolest though was when I met Mercedes Lackey. I asked her to sign a book for my then gf who couldn't make it to CAPE with me that year. She laughed and said "Trying to get pussy points I see." I left with a smile and a red face.

During his brief tenure as one of the replacement hosts of the Man Show, I met Joe Rogan when he came through town with the Girls Gone Wild crew filming for one of their videos, and I was part of the on-site staff for one of our radio stations. I'm pretty sure I'm in the background in at least one of the shots they took that night, as I was literally arms-length from a chick eating out another chick. It was actually probably one of the least erotic moment I ever experienced that involved naked college chicks.

Some of the various acts that came through town I've met-
Hinder
Burden Brothers
Johnny Solinger (lead singer of Skid Row)
And a whole bunch of "Texas" country artists most of you couldn't give a rat's ass about (Robert Earl Keen, Corey Morrow, Kevin Fowler, Honeybrowne, Randy Rogers, Eli Young, Roger Creager, Stoney LaRue, and a quite a few others)

When I was a kid I met Riders in the Sky at the Colorado State Fair... if anybody remembers them. Think NPR on sunday mornings about 20 years ago :p

M

Mr. Lawface

Last year I went to a summer program for animation that had Sihanouk Mariona as one of the teachers and had Mark Walsh and Bobby Podesta as guest speakers.

They might not be the most famous people, but meeting them was much cooler for me than meeting many actually famous people would have been.

My dad bumped into Muhammad Ali at an airport once and got an autograph. He had to get it on a map, as that was the only paper around.

I recently ran into Bill Murry (literally) while walking backwards because I was talking to a friend. He was cool about it though.

I'm also told that I drunkenly hit on Scarlet Johansen and drunkenly insulted Josh Hartnett a few years ago. I don't really remember, but my friends swear it was them.

I have met the band Default, and hung out after a concert and talked to them for about 15-20 minutes (they're not that famous around here, so they were probably just happy to have someone that wanted to talk to them)... when I was a kid, I met Darrell Green (former Washington Redskin and NFL Hall of Famer). I've also met Frank Warren, of PostSecret fame.

My boyfriend has met Buzz Aldrin, and who he calls "the question mark guy" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Lesko), and numerous Bollywood stars no one would recognize the names of. My mom and dad have met Brian Mitchell (another ex-Redskin... meeting Redskins tends to happen a lot around here), and Evander Holyfield, and my dad met Howie Mandell in an Atlantic City casino about 20 years ago.

Oh, and also -- I worked in a call center for a few years (as I feel like I've said a million times here... :bush: ), and celebrities and/or their handlers would call in sometimes for assistance. I talked to Oliver Platt once, and my buddy that sat next to me talked to Jon Stewart once. (He actually asked him if he dyed his hair grey to look more distinguished and I heard Jon laughing through the phone -- so awesome)

I saw Sean Connery in a London Underground station a few years ago.

Also, when Kobe Bryant came to Taiwan on a one-day visit a couple of years ago, I happened to run into him on the 89th floor observation deck in Taipei 101. Tried to take a picture but his entourage stopped me.

Also, I once managed to get tickets to Wimbledon, Center Court, so I got to see a whole bunch of famous tennis players, including Sampras, Graf, Philippoussis, Michael Chang and a whole lot of others.

Me and some friends did the living background for a concert of the Tolkien Ensemble last summer and before it began we all were allowed to group around Christopher Lee for a quick memory photo.
No words were exchanged and he seemed quite tired but he still is an impressive figure and it was awesome to listen to his soundcheck.
No one can say "Too much reverberation" like him. After a second sound testing he banged several times with his hand on his chair to shpw the sound guy what he meant and after a third try he was happy with the result and had a happy smirk on his face.

When NWA:TNA was in Nashville, I met and talked to probably every wrestler that came through the company. I went to every show, and they were generous with their time. Also a little later, I got on the street team and worked on their official message board, and I got to go backstage to a lot of shows too and just hang out.

My grandma was high in TN election board stuff, and I met Lamar Alexander and Fred Thompson(law and order guy, Die Hard 2) on different occasions.

In college I partied (nothing kinky) with Less Than Jake in my room between sets when they were playing our fraternity party for payment in pizza and beer.

Muhammad Ali's dad painted my grandpa's barber shop windows.

Mo Tucker, drummer for The Velvet Underground, cooked me dinner (she's one of my best friends' mother).

I see a decent number of celebs around Nashville. Quite a few at the Pancake Pantry.

A few months ago I went to see Pat Travers Band at a casino.

A friend of mine had invited us up to their hotel room and we got to meet the band and have some wine with them.

It was a pretty cool event, not exactly the biggest of stars, but I was pretty excited about it!

When I worked night audit at a downtown hotel near the top live music club in town, I had a few brushes...

I met Dick Dale a couple times when he was doing shows in town. First time I was working the hotel lobby when he headed out to start the show. Second time he got me in for free. :)

Same job, I met Jack and Meg White as they came back from a show. I had no idea who they were at the time.

Don Knotts was from here, and stopped in town on occasion. I didn't meet him face to face, but I spoke to him when he requested a wakeup call.

Lastly, I ended up valet parking Sen. Jay Rockefeller's car when I was the only desk clerk or bellhop available to do so at the time.

At cons I've met Pete Conrad, Adam West, Phil Foglio, Sergio Aragones, Chris Claremont, Jack Kirby, and Mojo Nixon, just to name a few.

I met the world's 11th richest man (Jim Walton) at an art gallery in Bentonvile, AR. That's my best story, pretty boring.

My relatives have much better tales, including:
- My cousin helped Linus Torvalds install Linux on a Mac.
- My uncle's pants were on the cover of Rolling Stone.
- Another cousin has been in several national commercials (Axe, Healthy Chioce, Pizza Hut, some car insurance)

OH! And I hit on Britney Spears once in Maui. No dice though, she was with K-fed at the time.

My cousin works for the Earnharts... Dale Senior literally hired him on the spot while he was working at a bar because of his stellar personality. I've also been on TV several times for one thing or another, but that was years ago.

Sports Related:

Jason Bay (MLB) is from my hometown, known him forever. Dude owes me a dollar, I'll settle for a million though (lord knows he has it :bush: )

Had dinner with former coach of New York Rangers Tom Renney. Got to ask him any question about hockey or any players. Turns out that yes, Jaromir Jagr IS a big douchebag and that Sidney Crosby is even more talented than we think. Was disappointed to hear he got fired.

Had Pat Quinn here for a celebrity golf tournament, chatted with him for a bit. The man is a big perv, wow. Pinchin' the ladies bums.

Ray Ferraro I have an autograph from him when he still played hockey.
