She's fine; she took a break from D&D hoping to get back into it, now she's tried and still isn't ready for more.

She's with us. It's up to the group to keep Sylvaria alive, either until we get to Good Mead, or until we drag our miserable asses back to Dougan's Hole in defeat.
But I don't see a problem with HC stumbling upon us. If five people were stupid enough to travel in this blizzard, why not a sixth?
That said, it sucks for HC that he'll begin the game in our skill challenge and possibly dying because Falagar can't stay on his feet.

Falagar is simultaneously the most useless and most useful character. dont ask how that works, even we don't seem to know.

I did an RP thing after Tyrdin's mom was murdered in cold blood--that was my journal entry. I'll do another when I see us having done something to write home about, like actually making it to Good Mead. Is the blizzard this bad or are we this pathetic?
That said, I really like how the travel as a skill challenge is working.

It's one of the better skill challenges, coming from a guy with a few issues with skill challenges.
on a related not, I'll get the next journal up soon, i'm just having issues with classes and tests and such. Midterms are right around the corner.

also, I've been thinking, can you murder a zombie? seriously, is that possible. i mean murder is killing something, but a zombie is already dead. but you are destroying something that moved and thought, at least on some level... its food for thought.

Skill challenges are a bitch to get working realistically and have them be entertaining to everyone. Heck, they take a LOT more prep work than anything else I do. Regardless on how I set them up, sadly, depending on the encounter, not everyone can play a major part (thus my leniency to secondary rolls assisting to primary rolls). Also, how players react to them (aka the first round trapped room meltdown) almost allowed players to meet a tragic end, very quickly)

as i've said before, my problem with skill challenges is it takes away from the RP and replaces it with numbers. Jay has actually fixed that though, as his skill challenges lately do seem built with RP in mind, more so than other DMs i've seen try it.
