Same.

A GOOD Disney film. There's a lot of shit in the Disney vault.

Speaking of the vault, I hate it. Sometimes I wanna buy a friggin' Disney movie. Why the hell can I only get Fantasia off Ebay right now? Luckily Pixar movies aren't in that position.

Enjoying a good Disney film, and enjoying a Live Action Disney film are two totally different stories.
Are you saying there aren't any good live action Disney films? I disagree. "The Parent Trap" (original, not the remake), "The Absent-Minded Professor", "Mary Poppins", "That Darn Cat!" (original), "The Black Hole", "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", "The Rocketeer", "Newsies", "The Muppet Christmas Carol", "The Princess Diaries", "The Rookie", "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and more prove you wrong. Not to mention that "Midnight Madness" is a bad film that's fun to watch.

I liked Enchanted. It was a fun semi-parody of Disney's animated fairy tales.

As above, there are several live action films that Disney has done right. Sure there are plenty of wastes of film, but every once in a while Disney produces a real gem.

All you proved was pre 2000 they could make a good live action. Now, all they make Jonas Brothers: The Movie pt4.
If I may present for your consideration:

Remember the Titans
The Rookie
Pirates of the Caribbean
Miracle
The Greatest Game Ever Played
The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Eight Below
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Pirates of the Caribbean
The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

This is no way changes the fact that you thought Enchanted and Freaky Friday were "nice entertainment".

Disney has a big market in low budget, dvd direct releases. They practically revolutionized the idea and are hereby responsible for most of the crap that hits shelves. There is no doubt of that.

But every year or so they get at least one good live action film out.

Enchanted was one of them.

I haven't seen this movie. And I'm not just saying that to retain my Man Card (c). Apparently I need to see it, though.

I liked this film until the last 20 min or so.

It killed me to see her throw away everything that made her special and unique and admirable and resort to saving the day with daddy's emergency Gold AmEx. And then she opens an expensive-looking 5th Avenue fashion store, again probably with his money.

Admittedly, it probably wouldn't have annoyed me quite so much if the previous 3/4 of the film hadn't been such a clever subversion and affirmation of the Disney princess routine.

I thought having the little girl play the part of the fairy godmother was charming.

The princess designs clothing shop was an interesting choice, but it didn't seem terribly out of place - a business loan, her talents (plus free labor), and her obvious charm and appeal to little girls - such a business should be very successful in NY.

But the business could have been cut from the film completely and it would make no difference for me.

I can understand why folks like that, it just rubbed me the wrong way with what I had taken from the previous parts of the film.

odd... I actually liked that bit...

...My interpretation was that the film "aesop" was sort of "accepting reality" but without losing your kindness and hope, Giselle becomes less pure as the film goes by, but this ends with her growing as a person, while the guy becomes less cinical and growns as well.

Then I think it's safe to say that the "reality" I saw being accepted was very different from what you took away.

Again, I can see why you think differently, just sayin' why I do.

All the men in here, have obviously been castrated.

Man cards are hence forth revoked.
I can only imagine what your definition of a man is...

:aaahhh:
This is doubly hilarious as stieny has about umpteen-and-a-half kids and as far as I recall is considering having more. I guess having an orchiectomy just doesn't cut it, huh?
I'm pretty sure I could get you pregnant, even over the internet, I'm so potent.

That would be quite a feat, indeed.
