[News] Face, meet Leopard.

The paving company I pass on my way to work (this one, I think) has a giant flagpole where they fly an enormous American flag for as long as I can remember. It has also been flying a huge "Trump 2024" flag below it, probably since 2021. This past December, they added a neon/LED Star of Bethlehem atop their silos that they turn on at night.
The Trump flag vanished a little over a week ago. I don't know whether someone stole it or whether the company took it down on their own, but they don't appear to be rushing to replace it.

The* problem is that all these people will still happily come out and vote for Vance 2028 or whatever, and aggressively oppose bills that would directly help them if they have a (D) next to the name of the guy (m/f) proposing it.

"Do I feel like I made a mistake? Possibly"
Y'know. In case you were wondering if she had a Saint Paul revelatory moment or is just pissed she's being impacted.

That's the primary issue for about 90% of the Trump voters. Nothing is real until it happens to them specifically. Self-centered individuals is his biggest voting block.

At a certain point you don't even need AI or any sort of algorithm anymore to put "He said he was gonna" and "It's what you voted for" in the pre-generated response prompts.

Isn't it interesting how he still managed to frame it as "why does government do this?" so he doesn't have to deal with the cognitive dissonance?
Look, Trump was everything I ever wanted, until the damn government got to him by having him elected through MY vote... it's not like Trump was including ME when he said he was going to do this, he was just going to hurt the people in the groups I don't like...

Did you vote to "own the Libs," only to get owned, yourself?
...that just means YOU were a Lib the whole time, you just didn't realize it. You can't even fight it. Just admit it. You're a Lib now.

No, no, no... he now has to vote for and support conservative politicians even harder, to prove he's not a lib, so their policies will stop owning him... duh.

And if they still do, he just failed at believing in the policies hard enough...

Just like how he's not rich because he didn't believe in the prosperity gospel enough...

"it seems a bit foolish now that we voted for something that will bankrupt us"

Still 0 moral or ethical qualms about loss of liberty, loss of rights, deportations, other people suffering. Just the realization that they voted against their own personal interests.
Fuck off. As a well-paid guy without kids I've voted for parties that want to invest more money in children, and lower taxes on the working poor. Because I have the moral intelligence to look further my my own face and actually think about what's best for society.
Sure, there's plenty of debate to be had about that - universal healthcare or third payer system; all schools free or high level free education and private schools beside them; how fast and how strong should ecological measures be to save the planet while also avoiding an economic bloodbath,....
"which minority should we deport or oppress first" is not a question that should be answered, because it's a question that shouldn't be asked. "what will this do for me, personally, because F everybody else and the future" is not a moral position.
