Five superpowers- GO!

#1

Yoshimickster

Yoshimickster

Flame projection
Personal gravity control
Phasing
Able to eat all matter
Future-sight

Flames as an offensive, gravity control and phasing as evasive maneuvers- OR make myselve heavier for a blunt force attack(I stress that or as I'm pretty sure I'd be slow as fuck), matter eating because I've always wanted to eat metal and it woud be great for escapes, and future-sight so I could predict my enemies moves.

Your turn- GO!

Super Speed
Flight
Damage Adaptation
Super Senses
Super Strength.

So...Superman I guess. Huh.

#3

Ravenpoe

Ravenpoe

Plot powers. That's all you need.

So... silver age superman, I guess.

#4

General Specific

General Specific

Shape shifting
super healing
super intelligence
intuitive understanding of all languages
telekinesis

I almost wrote "shapeshiting" for the first one, which would be a completely different power.

In my experience its more a learn-ed skill than a power.

Five... seems excessive... I mean...

Invulnerability
Agelessness
Unrestricted universal movement
Mind control
Omnivorousness.

Done. End of life as we know it.

Damage resistance

I feel like I'm cheating.

#11

Celt Z

Celt Z

Flight
Telekinesis
Super strength
Telepathy
Invunerability

Although depending on the strength of telekinesis, I may not need additional flight, super strength or telepathy. Bleah, I'm Jean Grey.

Fun Size

Fun Size

Flight (for fun)
Invulnerability (for safety)
Cellular regeneration (for youth)
Super strength (for aiding others)
Shared telekineses (for not just knowing what others are thinking, but being able to project those thoughts and feeling into others)

The last is, off the top of my head and given all of one minute of thought, a powerful peace-keeping ability. The ability to force the thoughts and feelings of one person to be shared with another would force empathy in situations where it otherwise would not exists. I can't think of a better way to change the minds of people than to make them understand not only that others are not evil in their intentions, but rather trying to do what they believe is good, in addition to being presented with how others truly see you and your behaviors.

Although I'd probably just use it to let other people on the highway know when they're being assholes. :awesome:

Shared telekineses (for not just knowing what others are thinking, but being able to project those thoughts and feeling into others)
Just a quick kibitz... what you're describing is shared telepathy. Telekinesis is the ability to physically move objects with your mind. From tele- ‘at a distance’ + kinēsis ‘motion’ (from kinein ‘to move’).

#14

Tinwhistler

Tinwhistler

Any major survival power: Immortality, Invulnerability, Wolverine's healing, etc.
Likewise, any suitable speedy travel power would do...flight, teleportation, really fast running, etc.
Skill mimicry (a la Monica Dawson in Heroes) or super learning
Mind control

That's about it for my must-have list. But, having a slot left over, I'd use it to be able to transform into something spooky and cool, like Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, or Spawn. Something like that.

#15

Emrys

Emrys

Longevity
Damage reduction/Invulnerability
Ability to command animals
Control over nature
Flight

Basically, I want to be Radagast but with the ability to fly. And take a shower.

Thanks. I was trying to think of the word while programming and watching Sinister. Apparently the reports of multitasking being a myth aren't all wrong.

Immortality
never needing to sleep
time travel
stop aging at 30

The ability to heal others of all ailments.

The ability to control the weather.
Supersenses.
The ability to transform into a giant rock monster.

If you have the ability to compel others to tell the truth, you're going to want invincibility as well. You know, because of all the assassination attempts.

Ah but what if this monster looks just like a statue and then you look away then you blink and yes a statue can compell you to tell the truth.

Or the Empire State building. That would be awesome to see. Giant historic building running amok.

Most of you would be DEAD.

That being said, I like the omnipotence thing suggested above. I wouldn't WANT omniscience though, as then the world/universe would be boring IMO. I'd want the ability to gain knowledge easily and magically though. More "if I will to know it, then I do" rather than all-knowing all the time. I like being surprised. Q-like powers to manipulate the world around me, with invulnerability, though retaining the ability to change myself if I desire. That even includes allowing myself to truly forget as IMO, that's extremely important if you're long-lived, because without that, Who Wants to Live Forever?

And I spend WAY too much time on Tropes.

Emrys

You got your Reality on my Fantasy!

#30

GasBandit

That's why power #1 is always "invulnerability."

#31

Mind-reading
Super Stamina (Laaaadies! :unibrow: )
Super Strength.

No, you'd be...

#33

Dave

Dave

Unlimited knowledge. (Such as, "What are next week's winning lottery numbers?" or "Who is the murderer, what is the motive, and what proof can be found?")
Ability to speak, write and understand ALL languages - past, present, or undiscovered - fluently.
Invulnerability.
Time stop.
Perfect health/regeneration.

Sure, I might end up in a fissure somewhere wishing I had the ability to die, but I'd eventually get out. Drowning would suck, though.

#34

GasBandit

GasBandit

I often muse that if I had to pick just one power... well, usually it would be, as I said in previous threads, the ability to rewrite reality. But sometimes I also wonder about, what if I had the power to answer any question correctly. It'd be like Dave's Unlimited Knowledge power, but the question has to be asked.

Same with mine, but I can ask it. The question does not have to be externally asked.

mikerc

mikerc

No, you'd be...

Wouldn't that also be your plot powers?

#37

Jax

Jax

Time control
Teleportation
Skill mimicry or absorbtion or superfast learning
Which comes with superintelligence I guess
Damage resistance

The last three are not even necessary, I just thought I'd fill out all five. With these powers I could learn everything and every skill in the world in the blink of an eye (since I could reverse time (and yes, that does imply that I remember everything I learned so far)). Also, it makes going on holidays super easy :D

#38

Yoshimickster

Yoshimickster

If I could have only one power it'd be time stopping, but when you have more than one power slot you can better strategize.

I don't see why "invulnerability" needs to be #1. Can't believe only one person before me said it..."supernatural luck" is a solid #1 pick. Strong enough, and it's all plot power you need.
Oh god a bullet is coming my way and I'm stuck in quicksand with no place to go and no way to stop it! *crash* phew, lucky that elephant just fell through the roof and took that bullet for me. Etc.

#1 Supernatural luck (I might actually get lucky)
#2 Ability to change someone's feelings (make someone instantly happy, instantly sad, depressed, angry, quiet,....) (basically a stronger but lessp recise form of mind control I guess) -> both a strong offensive power (all enemies are suddenly overcome with crippling anxiety/depression/suicidal tendencies/a moral imperative to become a Zen monk/terror/....) and a great team power (what do you mean you feel "down" or "not very creative" today?), plus, making all the ladies hot for you must have some sort of advantage.
#3 Timelessness (time stopping, no aging, fast forward, super slow motion etc) (and the ladies will think I lasted more than 2 minutes)
#4 Complete shape shifting (including changing mass, tensile strength, etc) (plus I'm insecure and want to increase my endowment)
#5 Some form of pain/damage/health issue/etc prevention (because STDs suck)

...what? :p

1. Healing - any injury, any ailment.
2. Shapeshifting - because the world needs a sexier version of Zap.
3. Breathing Underwater - because I never want to drown.
4. The Century Pocket - reach into your pocket and pull out $100, no matter the pants.
5. Universal Fluency - the ability to become fluent in any language after hearing/reading a small sample of it.

Let me add to that a little...
I'd take The Century Pocket and Universal Fluency and then...
3. Teleportation - able to be anywhere I choose. Preferably with a way station dimension along the way so I can be discreet with my reappearance.
4. Papers, Please - always have proper documentation to explain my presence and/or bundle of cash. :)
5. Time Tracking - able to follow any object's, image's, or person's path back in time to any point, then follow anything from that point back to the present. Invaluable for solving cold cases or Where Are They Now? stories.

1) Teleportation (who needs flight? Not this guy.)
2) Density control (the kind where you can not only pass through solid matter, but also fade from view/become a ghost or increase to supermassive density)
3) Infinite Health/Durability (stay healthy no matter what - vacuum, black hole, hunger, whatever)
4) Shapeshift ("fit in")
5) Always be able to effectively communicate with my target (regardless of distance, language, species, etc)

I think that covers it.

Yes.

I mean, I wouldn't be stuck there, since I could teleport back outside of the event horizon, but I wouldn't be able to do that if I couldn't stay healthy, right?
