It's FOX. If it's not a rip-off of another network's reality show, they just won't pay for it anymore. Simple as that.
Hopefully, it is just a negotiation ploy, and they will get them all signed. Maybe Matt Groening could throw some of his weight around for them, since he would know the show would fail terribly if they recast the main characters.
