Well selling this sort of pointless stuff for way too much money is annoying as hell (and is getting more ridiculous, i mean emotes, wtf), but at least they're not selling gameplay, especially one that could and should have been there already.

But the people i really have a problem is the ones that are buying this stuff... of course the worst are the guys that give 15$ for 3 new maps and 2 remakes that a modder could have made in a weekend...

I am totally cool with launch-day/pre-purchase bonuses that cost everyone else a reasonable amount later if they want them.
The problem with that is that if their servers get an error bad things can happen to your game, like all of a sudden finding yourself weaponless in the middle of a fight... man that was annoying. (although that's more about the need to be logged in to use the DLC, and EA not caring much for games that already have a sequel, that and it happening on a friday... and now i have Soldier's Peak both as a done quest and as a new one that i can't start because the map itself is done).

Regarding Gabe Newell's comments about not charing for DLC back in 2007, I will add one small defense: For whatever reason, he seems to draw a line between in-game items and maps/gameplay modes/drastic changes to TF2. So in his mind he probably hasn't deviated from what he said. He would also probably argue that (almost) all items in TF2 are free if you wait for them to randomly drop or craft them, and therefore Valve isn't necessarily charging for them. I think all those arguments would be bullshit, but I'm pretty sure that's what Valve would argue.

I dunno if it's true of all of the things but I found a beanie and a flag during the course of my first play through.

I don't see how charging for these items diminishes the quality of the game at all. If they were things that confured an in-game benefit or alternate levels, then I could see being choked about it but as these are little more than simple cosmetic changes I really don't see this as being a valid critisim of the game. There not being any advanced chambers, the length, those I can see people being upset about. Having hats and skins that no one is forcing you to buy nor there not being any disadvantage for not having? Seems like bitching to bitch.

I also don't see this as valve changing thier stance on DLC either. As far as I'm aware they still give away all of the playable or level dlc that they have made like the new campaigns for lfd. If they want to charge people for hats and shit to cover the cost of that, and if peple are willing to buy these things, which they obviously are, then I say let them.
I agree. It is all cosmetic changes so those are optional. Once they start charging for content like new maps, new skills, new weapons, and new characters then we can have something to bitch about.
