Game IPs You Want More Of (Sequel, Remake, etc)

KotOR 3. Been replaying 2 lately and knowing how it's going to end (unfinished bullshit "let me tell you how your crew is doing") makes me want a big, beautiful return to the series.

Here's some titles that I would love to play HD remakes of
  • Blast Corps
  • Daytona USA
  • Tech Romancer
  • Power Stone (pick one)

Have you tried the reconstruction mod? It's pretty big, and fills in a lot of the stuff that was cut for completion.

I'll have to look into that. I'm still pretty early in the game (Telos) so maybe it'll be worth seeing how it changes things.
If you aren't playing with the restoration, YES. STOP (because you'll have to restart). It changes SO MUCH and about 98% of it for the positive. Storywise, especially.

I always say games should be played through mod-free first. After that, he can go back and appreciate the difference.

Even though they ran out of time for an ending, I still like KOTOR2 more than 1. The story is much more engaging, and they really delve into the more mysterious sides of the force. Also, Kreia is just an amazing character.

I'm a huge fan of KOTOR 2. I think it's the only game I've ever finished in every possible way (dark/light/grey consular/guardian/sentinel male/female). I also absolutely agree that you should always play a game modfree first.
However, KOTOR 2 really is the only exception to that rule. The restoration mod does add one or two parts which, to me, are superfluous, but it mostly fills in stuff that's already included but unfinished for several reasons - mostly budgetary. And it solves a lot of bugs - especially the crash- and rendering game unwinnable ones are sort of important.
Lastly, he's posted already that he already has finished the game, so it's not an issue.

I've played through it a couple times back on the ol' EcksBawks, so the only downside of restarting is that goddamnded mining facility. Also I prefer 2 to 1 also. It's just a more refined and fun experience.

There's a skip the mining facility mod... just sayin'

It wasn't budgetary, it was time. LucasArts pushed the release date up to match up with one of the prequels.

I would really like to see a return to single-player KOTOR as well. I played the MMO and it really only flirts with the storylines of the 2 predecessors. Problem is, EA owns Bioware now. So, I'd want some other company to pick it up. Not sure if that is going to happen.

What I'd want is for the original Bioware people to make another RPG. I really enjoyed both KOTOR 1 and Jade Empire, so if we could get those same people to make a new RPG, I don't really care what IP they use. I'd actually like if they came up with their own new one.

Other than that, when I first saw this thread, I though of Heretic. It was one of the first FPSes I ever played and still holds a spot in my heart. If we can get a new, proper sequel to that, it'd be awesome.

I loved the Heretic series.

Playing Heretic at 2 am when you're alone in the house and suddenly out of nowhere that cultist chanting shit started up, that was some serious jumpscare stuff back in the day.

Also, Heretic's sequel, Hexen, had some pretty innovative weapons for its time - Heretic might have mostly just had reskinned doom weapons, but Hexen had some really interesting weapons and "spells."

The more I replay older games, the more I'd love to see a return to form from companies like Square and Capcom. FFIV is still captivating, Megaman is still fun and challenging, but anything I play from the companies now just doesn't have that same spark. FFXIV does the FF formula pretty well for an MMO, but it's a tough game to get into without a solid guild to play the game with thanks to the challenge presented in hardmode dungeons and raids.

Has anyone mentioned Star Control yet, because Star Control.

Gonna have to do my biyearly playthrough.

I know Stardock is working on one right now. I hope it at least involves Fred Ford and Paul Reiche a little bit.

I've owned three separate 3DO's in my life for the sole purpose of being able to play Star Control 2. This is before the ubiquitous Ur-Quan Masters release that anyone can download and play.

I wish this project had gotten further than it did. It was looking SUPER promising.

I think the first game I realized was taking up a crapload of space was EverQuest 1 after the first xpac released. I don't remember how large it was but at the time it was definitely crazy huge.

Shit, I remember Monkey Island 2 came on like 10 floppy disks. That shit was cray-cray. Baldur's Gate! FIVE CDs, plus another for the expansion pack! And it's not like it was just hours of FMV like FF7 was.

Even the base WoW game was like 5 or 6 discs. I think EQ1 was 6 or so, plus 2-3 per xpac. The PC version of FF7 was 5, I think. 3 play discs, one install, and one cinematic.

I'm pretty sure EQ1 was only 1 or 2 CDs, and 1 CD per expansion (for the first 3 or so expansions, I stopped playing after that).

Dark Age of Camelot was way more visually complex than Everquest, and initially came on 1 CD, plus 1 CD for each expansion.

City of Heroes/Villains, however, was like 4 CDs

Ah you might be right, I could be thinking of when we got it for my brother and it was the multi-xpac box (though that might not have been more than 2-3 either, really).

I remember downloading the 50mb Diablo demo from Blizzard's website in the 90's. It took HOURS.
Hah, first game I ever downloaded that wouldn't fit on a floppy disk was Sandstorm (a VGA missile command clone that pit patriot missiles vs SCUDs and also had you pilot tomahawk cruise missles to their targets)... it was like BARELY over 720kb. Took HOURS on my 2400 bps modem! I had to start over twice because my parents kept picking up the phone![DOUBLEPOST=1426193615,1426193535][/DOUBLEPOST]

Shit, remember this song? Remember listening to it for like 5 minutes straight? Remember the excitement you felt building as the melody swelled?

... now I'm sad.

I've had my new gaming rig for a week now, and I am still trying to get 6 games downloaded... then only to find that Fallout 3 does not run on windows 8.1. What the hell, I remember game companies putting out patches back in the day.

The Lucelin patch bundle that you could get had, like 6 CDs, I believe. That was the one with the major graphics overhaul.
