Houston flooding

Well, in their defense it is the greatest fast food restaurant ever invented.
Every time I visit Houston, Jack in the Box and Whataburger are two fast food places I have to have before I leave town again. But Whataburger's higher on that list.

Wait--is that Jack in the Box? I thought it was whataburger, but now I see "Jack" on everything. I stand corrected if that's Jack in the Box.

In & Out is creeping into TX, too, now, and that's pretty close to Whataburger.

Fun trivia: there's a smaller whataburger chain in SC that is not affiliated in any way with this Whataburger. They're just coincidentally named.
I've had In & Out and Whataburger. Respectfully disagree ;)

I've seen the "What A Burger" stores..there's one in NC, also, that's on the route when I take my son to his mom's for visitation. But I've never been inclined to visit just because it has a similar name.

Oops I edited. I assumed that was Whataburger in the photo because of the orange and white. Now I see "Jack" on everything. I could understand tubing to Whataburger.

I miss Conway's Red Top.

It wasn't chain (I think they had at most 5 locations), and it wasn't in Texas (it was in Colorado Springs) but man... they made the best burgers and malts ever. They had one a mere 3 blocks from my Dad's house. And the burgers were the size of dinner plates. I went to High School with the presumptive "heir" to the Conway family business, and it was clear he had no inclination whatsoever to take it over... but I suppose it wasn't meant to be. Conway's Red Top got into money trouble in the recession and ceased to exist :(

This flooding is going to cause me a very busy day today. Lone Star College campuses were closed Mon - Wed, so that canceled both dress rehearsals and the scheduled opening night for the show I'm in. Now we get to have dress at 4pm, and a show right after at 7:30pm. With a cast that's highly distractable and probably haven't even looked at the script in the last 3+ days. *sigh* At least my main role is opposite one of my best friends (playing my daughter for a second time), and I know that she'll have her head in the game.

We have red tops down here, like 2 or 3 that I know of

There's one in Brazoria and one in Lake Jackson and one in Clute the Brazoria location sucks but they do have good malts and the best taco salad I've ever had. They've been here since I was a kid. Maybe a different owner of these locations than yours? They have no signs saying what the name is but the roof is red so we just always called it red top?

Must be different people. Do they have super-huge burgers?

I'm about 120 northeast of Houston, company I work for has several stores in Houston, got a call from our district loss-prevention guy earlier this week. He wanted us to put all our more expensive items (that were sitting on the floor) up on pallets to keep them dry in the possibility that we may flood. I'm like "Matt, we're on the biggest hill in the city, we can look across and see the tops of the flat roofs across the highway from us. If we flood, you guys in Houston will have long ago driven through town to escape the sea. I'm not doing that." He laughed.

I'm about a 90-minute drive NW of Houston. My Dad works with FEMA so he might even be heading there for clean-up later. We had flash flood warnings here but nothing bad.

And I just checked the weather forecast. We're supposed to have thunderstorms all next week and Houston will see even more flooding.

Took this one right near my house. I live on Buffalo Bayou, and the water is still over the park trails in a lot of places and the bayou is still really high and fast.

My grandparents used to have a house within 50 yards of Buffalo Bayou. Good memories. Of course, I wasn't there for any floods (or when Hurricane Alicia tore off the roof in 1983).

Phase II has definitely hit. I think I'm a quart low on blood just from taking that photo.

I stayed with friends in Tomball for the convention. It flooded up there pretty badly over the weekend. I ended up having to take 249 to the north of town and come into their neighborhood from the opposite direction, because Holderreith Road became "Lake Holderreith".

I think on Saturday, they were having a regatta as I passed by.

Thankfully the flood map for Brazoria County predicts flooding for a few streets away from me, but shows my street to be flood free, yay!
