[Movies] MCU: Phase 3 And Beyond

It almost sounds like a joint custody situation. Before, while Disney had the creative control, Sony were still the producers of the past movies. This new info implies that Marvel Studios will fully produce the third movie. On the flip side, Sony can now use Spider-Man in it's own live action movies again without Disney, since they no longer have a collaborative agreement. Fiege even said he will likely appear in both cinematic universes now.

Meanwhile, it does give me some hope there will at least be a cameo for him in Spider-verse 2. And, obv, Spidey continuing to be taken care of by the good parent... er, in the MCU where he belongs.

Considering how well Venom did on it's own, you bet your ass he will be.

One other thing of note this whole breakup started because Disney wanted to put more money into the movies and thus get more of the profits, while Sony wanted to keep the 5% arrangement. This new agreement, Disney will get the majority of profits for their produced films but likely has to pay a fee to use the character, while Sony can now just make their own movies for 100% of the profits. Overall, I think Sony won in the end, but Disney is still likely to make a lot more money under this arrangement since they are no longer bound to that 5% per movie.

To get all the context of the story you'll have to watch Loki s1e5, Hawkeye s2e3 and then the alternative foil intro version of vision and Wanda s2e1 and then don't miss the last 5 seconds of the mandalorian because fuck you.

Hell, there are some show I learned everything about through recaps because I didn't have the time to watch them live.

Honestly, anytime there is a movie I know it's unlikely I will be able to watch, I just go to Wikipedia and read the plot synopsis.

I'm fine with references to the shows (like Jarvis showing up in Endgame) but if I have to watch them to understand the movies, then this does reduce my willingness to see the movies. I mean yeah, I could just read a recap or watch a video on Youtube, but that's an extra step I didn't need to go through in the past.

Exactly. They SAY this stuff, but Disney knows better than to alienate the audience. You'll not understand a reference to events here or there, but the movies will continue being easy to follow.

There was plenty of stuff in Agents of SHIELD that helped understand some events between the movies, and some plot twists that made much more sense if you were aware. Still the really important stuff happened the other way around - you needed the movies to make sense of some parts of the series.
We'll see how much they change that ,but I highly doubt it'll make that much difference.

Don't think it'll be an issue. They will still be making the majority of money with the movies, so therefore, the movies will stand on their own.

There may be characters that are introduced in the D+ stuff, but you'll get all the info you need to know what is happening in the movie. It may be something like the Loki series shows what Loki has been doing and gives the info for why he's made it "there," but it won't be a major plot point to understand the action in the movie. Just remember, Sony completely pulled Spider-Man from the MCU, so now he's.... still in the MCU, also the point about Captain Marvel, other than the basic info of "This is Captain Marvel, she can blast stuff," you didn't need to see her movie to get he character in Endgame.

I got a very Nikita/Hanna/Anna/Point of No Return/Long Kiss Goodnight kind of feel...until the skydiving scene. But that didn't bother me so much.
