Further clarification: Heterosexual men and women.

Basically you are either lying about being attracted to your female friend, or you have a different kind of secret.

Also the title is a bit misleading. It's not that they can't be friends, it's just that at almost any given moment, the hetero male would gladly sleep with the female in a socially acceptable situation.

I can think of several female friends that I would not want to have sex with.

Then again, there are plenty I would, given a friends with benefits situation. Because sex.

I feel like I saw this a year ago.

In any case, it assumes that any straight male will have sex with any female. I suppose it feels that way when you're not getting any, but for the rest of us, we tend to be choosy.

Is it because you don't find those female friends to be attractive? Or, to be more precise, sexually appealing? Or are they attractive but you truly don't want to have sex with them?

Because, generally speaking, the only females I don't find myself physically attracted to are the ones who I do not think are hot.

Well, for example, one of them is very attractive, but is also married with kids. So that would just be weird.

It's plausible, to me, that a woman already married and with kids would become less sexually appealing to other men. Both from an armchair biologist's standpoint, and an armchair psychologist's standpoint.

Or sitpoint, since I'm in an armchair.

I have noticed that I have fewer naughty thoughts about my female friends after they get married. As far as I can tell, this is a combination of social propriety and a genuine decrease in attraction towards them.

Holy fuck Juski's still here.[DOUBLEPOST=1351131521][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, my best friend is one of them, whatchoocallit, "women folks", and I can honestly say if she wanted to be more than friends I'd be freaked the fuck out and tell her she was being an idiot. I was definitely interested in her when we first met, but we've known eachother for a decade or so now, she's been more or less adopted by my family, and I honestly consider her to be like another sister.

You should take my research methods and statistics class. They are reporting an average result, which means there is variability in the sample. The two populations need not be totally non-overlapping for their to be a statistical difference in the averages. There are probably some women who were jonesing for their male friends too.
