Yeah, it's getting to be very amusing watching all of the people who live on flood plains every year. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for them for losing their houses and suffering property damage each year, but honestly, why would you go back every time? And yes, I understand that with mortgages and such you don't always have a lot of choice, but if your home is completely destroyed and you have to take a new loan to rebuild, and you rebuild in exactly the same place, what have you just accomplished?
Two years ago the annual flooding started to get really bad, and they proclaimed that the flooding that year was a 100-year flood, then the next year (last year) the flooding was even worse and they called it 500-year flooding, this year is even worse in some places, what's it going to be now?
Though I have to admit some level of shame at least, it really pisses me off that this has been completely crippling our berry crops the last 3 years and I haven't been able to get any decent local fruit for jam making. Shouldn't people's lives and houses be worth more to me than homemade jam?
