We get fresh lychees at the Asian market in Durham, NC. I am surprised they don't have it in D.C. or do you just want the jelly?
Just the jelly..i can get all kinds of lychee flavored stuff, which is good. But those konnyakus were addicting little bites of heaven. (or would send you to heaven, depending on who you talk to)

Really? That'd be awesome. But also weird. The FDA banned import of the jellies as being "unfit for food" due to the choking hazard.

I read about that, too. Someone even gave them out at Halloween a couple of years ago. Your article says they were banned in 2001. That Halloween would have been 2010/2011. I'll look when I go shopping in a few days. When we were still in San Diego I saw KinderEggs in the commissary, but couldn't find them when I went back. You never know.
Me and my best friend recently took in a Toronto Rock game. Normally we sit front row, but these tickets were last minute so we got nosebleeds. It made for an alright backdrop for a photo though, completing our Jersey trilogy
