In no way I mean to diminish what you did and especially not what the little kid is going through (it's sad, I hope he gets through okay), but I always wondered why people would shave their heads in support of people/kids with cancer. I mean you don't start 'forgetting' stuff in support of your grandfather with Alzheimer's, or knock over random objects in support of people with cerebral palsy.
Well, going bald is not a part of the disease, its a part of the treatment. So there's a slight difference there. It's a constant reminder that you're sick, and a constant reminder for those around you. Dexter instantly looks far more like a cancer patient without his hair. He looks thinner and his shunt is much more visible. It's become that much more real for my sister and my brother-in law.

Like I said, Dexter's too young to understand what's going on anyway, I did this more for my sister and brother in law.

My sister put this call out on Dexter's facebook group:
Dan shaved his head in support of Dexter's fight. If anyone out there wants to share photos or feel the need to buzz it off post pictures! This situation shouldn't be seen as merely a crisis but an oppertunity to bring people together as a community. Spread the word, buzz it off, tell stories. It makes our day to see the true impact one little guy can bring
And a few days ago I was talking to them and said I wish there was something I could do. Dan told me I could shave my head. So if that'll help Dan and Lisa cope with it, then so be it.

And Dexter has Cerebral Palsy as well, but he doesn't knock things over any more than any other two year old would, thank you very much. :p

Heh. Okay then. That does explain it a bit. And yeah, you are right. The baldness is not part of the disease so it was a bad comparison on my part. It was just a random train of thought of mine.

... I could never shave my head. Hell, I'm more scared of the hairdresser than people are of dentists.

Oh... Is his name Spencer or Dexter? Is Dexter like his nickname?
Dexter. Spencer is our family name.

Gusto man, it is out of respect for you that I don't shop that into a surprise buttsex poster. The looks are freaking scripted for it!

I know this is late cause I've ben back in Canada for almost a month now, but I finally got my Beijing photos from my friend last night. I filled up my memory card while there and dumped them on her laptop, and the pictures for the last two weeks there I just didn't think you'd be terribly interested in seeing.
Long ways to go:

The view, or what would have been my view if I had the window seat:

Me at Tiananmen Square:

I just really think Sun dials are cool. This one is in the Forbidden City. The needle on one side is used for the summer solstice and the needle on the other is used for the winter:

My friend and I posing infront of a photo of the Heavenly Temple's ceiling. I'm on the right:

This was probably the best day of my life, and without question the most exciting place I've ever been:

I really wish my friend had told me I was making a stupid face, and took another picture:

Some names carved into the brick:

Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium:

The computers at the University didn't have Windows in English. This was our solution:

This is from our last night there. We went to Karaoke and wound up pulling an all nighter, shirtless, dancing around like fools. A friend of mine even wound up dancing with who we found out later was actually a stripper.

I buzzed my head when my wife had cancer.

Rock on Dexter! Chaz is rooting for you!

Went to San Francisco for the weekend last week. Had a great time. AND PICS!

Fisherman's Wharf Sculpture:

San Francisco gets 4.5 stars out of 5 as a whole.
I saw a similar noodle sculpture in Boston next to Quincy Market that same weekend (on August 1st).

100 year in-law family reunion. 12 hour drive to get there. Stayed in someone's 1970's motorhome filled with orange shag carpet that smelled of cigarettes and spilled liquor.

So I filled up my weekend with booze and gambling.

Hahahahahahahahaha, wow. Guess I thought it would be obvious. Hmmm, perhaps I need to stop shaving my head and grow a mullet.
