PVP Online: New Jade Design

Somewhere in the Google is Scott's portrait of Jade in full wedding WOW! That was as awesome a picture as I'd ever seen from him. I wonder what he could do with her current look as a similar work.

I think he's also defensive about it because this is the exact same complaint that he's often had about Buckley's work in the past (though this last year, the CAD art and story telling has improved to the point where I've moved it into my daily rotation)

I think the Rolling Stone cover in today's, shows, even more so, that he's clearly putting more time and effort into the art..

That's pretty common in comics now anyway, it's lame but hell most major publishers have artists who base characters off actors. Many a time Norman Osborne has been Tommy Lee Jones, and the Wanted comic pretty much starts Eminem.

As for improvement, unless it's a drastic change in style 9 times out of 10 it's going to be subtle and gradual over the course of a lot of work. It also comes with trying new things with your style, and unfortunately that's hard for any working artist since fans are pretty stubborn when it comes to change.
