I absolutely hate the people in charge of the movie I'm working on. I used to just think they were retarded but now I actually fucking hate them.
The production company I intern with got the script back in November and by December my boss had been officially brought on to line produce the movie. Great news, this would most likely mean paid work for me. The movie was set to start on January 30th and it'd be a good 4-5 weeks of paid work. So did anybody do any preproduction work in December? Nope, not really. So after a month of having their thumbs up their asses I guess the producers and director realized that they still needed all of their locations and my boss asked me if I could do the scouting and then most likely be location manager during the shoot. "Sure," I said, "no problem." This was last Wednesday.
Long story short, I've spent a week and a half looking looking for a specific kind of location that's pretty damn rare to find in LA and the Powers That Be have found nitpicky reasons to dislike the few specimens I've been able to find. As of last night it seems like they want to go in a different, but no less difficult to find, direction and I'm about ready to start tearing my hair out. I feel like I just cannot satisfy these people.
Without locations we can't finalize a production schedule. Without that, we can't rent equipment, schedule cast and crew, or really finalize anything about the production. I'm really worried about the blame for this getting dumped onto me instead of the dickheads who thought it'd be a good idea to only have one month of pre-production.
