I played Rift during the headstart, and it kicked ass. Sadly, I've found that playing it during live release does not kick nearly as much ass. I think the problem I ran into was that being on a headstart shard - which Trion Worlds locked at launch to prevent people from overwhelming the shards - means that we've such a low shard population we can't get invasions to spawn and aside from leveling there's nothing to do. PvP sucks too, from the perspective of someone who loved Warhammer Online's PvP system. I really want to like the game, but every time I start getting into it, I run into some bizarre inconsistency from Trion Worlds - like the complete lack of a scheduled maintenance time (not day, just time. While I agree that it's not necessary to wait until Tuesday to patch the game if you need to hotfix something, is it always necessary to bring down the shards during peak time?), or that abysmally handled major event (I know, it was their first one, but it's not like they're the first people to invent the wheel here.), or just a lack of things to do. Also, I agree with ScytheRexx... I didn't even know this game had a story behind it. Guess it's back to WoW for me.
