Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Adia has a sense of goodness... it's not usually in line with sane people's sense of goodness, but it is there. One minute she's peeling the skin off our enemies for information, the next she is demanding orphans to accept blood money to feed their families.

The next she does a table dance!

Kratash NEVER got along with Adia, in fact, that was the big reason for the name Company of Discord. Kratash's soul at the moment is trapped in a small bauble, which Adia feels guilty for causing, so they're actually getting along better now than they ever have.

As for Serin, she cares little about what her party members do. She generally disagrees with profane toture, but for the most part she just kind of watches what the others do in deadpan bemusement.

Plus she gets bored every now and then and likes to flex her mischief muscles and work with Errik to make some (illegal) cash.

Her mentality is that she has unwillingly been recruited to save the world, so the world probably owes her a little bit.

I get the feeling that this paladin is going to be the obscenely naive goody-two-shoes type. Am I right? :p

No I tend to stay away from those types. More Knight in Sour Armor (TV Tropes), coming from a GRIMDARK setting. Think Rorschach, but only in the sense of his determination to do what he thinks is right, not his actions.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Errik considers his teammates to be his equals or greaters - but only when he's about to die otherwise.

Certainly in the case of Grendmir, but also in the case of the others, he still considers them to be underlings who work for him, at least to some degree. Gradually he's turning to see himself as part of the team, and forming genuine friendships/relationships with them.

So Kratash is stuck in a bauble...is he...completely incapacitated?

Yes; Kratash's player, Gurpel, has stepped out of the game for the time being, so his character is "dead" but recoverable. Supposedly.

So yeah!

Half-elf hailing from Darkon, but it won't really matter since I'm pretty much never going to take my armor off. My character pretty much looks like my avatar picture, except with a rose instead of a Maltese Cross.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

For those not familiar with Ravenloft lore, Darkon is a large country that exists within the main continent that makes up the Ravenloft campaign (though most of the areas I have or will take you to exist apart from that continent and are often referred to as "islands of dread"). Like most countries in Ravenloft, it is a domain that acts as a prison for a particularly evil person. In this case it is the prison of a lich named Azalin. Course no one knows this (not even Deschain's character).

Darkon, which is actually very diverse when it comes to races of humanoids having equal rights, has a fairly hefty curse that it grants it's citizens. Anyone who hails from outside of Darkon that stay within Darkon's borders for longer than a month suddenly believe themselves to be born and bred in Darkon. They will even sometimes adopt local gravestones as "family members" and have memories of growing up there. This curse is a result of Azalin's desire for control over his people.
However, the moment someone with this curse leaves Darkon all of his past memories return to him.

So Deschain, IF you would like you may also have a secondary TRUE history that comes to you the moment you find yourself outside of Darkon. But it's up to you, as people are still born and raised within the country so you might actually hail from there legitimately.
Your call.

Wrote something up real quick about my character. He will have probably been wandering around Darkon for about two weeks, because despite being a knight-errant, he has a terrible sense of direction. Part of the reason he wanders the road is because he can't actually find his destination.

"No rest for the wicked, no peace for the righteous."

Gaspar grew up in Jericho, the son of Casca the Morninglord. As a child, he was constantly told stories of great heroes that fought against evil and tyranny who shared the Deschain name. Upon becoming a man, he took an oath to serve the Burning Hatred in the Order Libera, dedicated to keeping the roads safe for travelers and escorting pilgrims to their destinations. Now older and wiser, he realizes that this world is full of suffering, anguish, and despair and that people are petty, faithless, and cowardly. He knows that worse still are those who clothe themselves in self-righteousness and false justice. He has taken it upon himself to rid the world of this evil, convention and mercy be damned. He fights on not because he believes he is making a difference but because it is the right thing to do. He is by nature honorable and will not back down if challenged. As a Knight Libera, his duty is to the defense of others and the destruction of those who harm innocents. He has seen the damage the need for power does to the people and those around them, and has sworn to keep the world safe through strength of arms and vigor of spirit alone.

So, what is Saryon again???

Your character sheet would be nice to see btw new Pally dude.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

A healer. He can't exert his will!

I passed the news of our paladin on to Julie.

As she closed the door in my face, she said "He's the FIRST to go." *slam*

I sent the character sheet to Shawnacy. Don't worry, as long as you're not slaughtering children directly in front of me, or feeding on the blood of your enemies all the time, I'm quite accomodating.

I mean it's totally something that everyone is horrified and ashamed of right? Like they're working terribly hard to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Also how is Saryon handling all this, considering he is the cleric of a NG god?

Well it just happened so we haven't had a chance to do anything about it. She just changed, and we've cautiously agreed to follow Ringmaster Euric to find out more.

And Saryon immediately "turned undead."

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Well, if Saryon would vouch for her (being a NG cleric after all), I'd all be for working out a possible path for a cure or at least subduing whatever it is. I'd be a terrible Hospitaler if I didn't help people who need help fighting their own battles.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Technically I wouldn't consider Adia undead. She was born and has yet to die. I feel that her use of the blood drain ability temporarily gives her traits of her undead kin, but as she isn't truly undead it wouldn't really harm her.
This will be interesting. I'm still waiting on some feedback from Julie about her character. Though I feel I may have given her the impression that I'm expecting her to be less evil as a result of the events to come.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

This will once again make Errik the most evil party member, presently somewhere between Lawful Evil and True Neutral, with intentions of redemption.

Let's do a run down of most evil things our characters have done in alphabetical order:

Adia: Peeled the skin/scales off of prisoners
Errik: Orchestrated the surprise attack and slaughter of "mostly-innocent" kobolds
Grendmir: Drugs or something
Kratash: "Accidentally" ripped the arms off a bird person (with intent to break)
Saryon: Threw a demon child into a cockatrice cage to be turned into stone
Serin: Made the party some extra money via deceit for the greater good. :D

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Don't forget about all the implied evil stuff I did from the day I could start working for the family until the campaign began, or that I'm held responsible for almost completely wiping out a rival gang. :p

Adia: Peeled the skin/scales off of prisoners
As long as they're completely evil, I've waterboarded people for information.

Errik: Orchestrated the surprise attack and slaughter of "mostly-innocent" kobolds
I'm sure there's a perfectly good racist reason.

Grendmir: Drugs or something
Ehhhh, that's not really evil...

Kratash: "Accidentally" ripped the arms off a bird person (with intent to break)
As long as the bird person was evil.

Saryon: Threw a demon child into a cockatrice cage to be turned into stone
Evil that tries to guise itself in the form of an innocent child should be punished even greater.

Serin: Made the party some extra money via deceit for the greater good. :D
I guess if it's for the Greater Good then that's probably CG.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Grendmir's not on drugs, but I'm not sure what you're referring to.

If you mean the flashback, he was just drunk, and sometime before the flashback catches up with the start of our campaign, he's going to swear off of drinking.

If you mean his current twitchy hunger for violence, that's because you guys gave me that artifact or whatever that thirsts for battle, thus causing Grendmir to thirst for battle and want to keep us moving into bigger and badder situations.

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

That demon child was beyond redemption. Plus the cockatrice was hungry.
