Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Done. I have replaced Colour Spray with Repelling Sphere. That means that once per encounter, I can drop Burning Hands, Icy Rays, or my new Concussive Echo, and do the following instead:

REPELLING SPHERE
Force - Close Burst 3 - Each enemy in burst

Intelligence vs. Fortitude
Hit: 2d4+5 force damage, and you push the target outside of the burst.

Gonna approach me from all sides? You get knocked the fuck back.

I can't decide if I want

Blazing Bolts (2 targets, range 20, lightning attack [which is always fun to have])
Shout (5x5 attack, only one I get for a while)
Spark Form (I shift my speed +2, and every enemy I pass through takes an attack from me. Kind of cool, but so are the others.)

How much money did we each get from selling those gems?

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

We got 300g for each gem, breaking down to 100g for each of us.

We didn't sell the ring because we thought we'd probably be able to get more for it elsewhere. Interestingly enough, a ring with a vampiric engraving on it would probably sell pretty easily in a place called the City of the Damned.

Errik would suggest that should be the only business we conduct in that city, though.

Words been getting around that "The Smiling Man" has the best prices in town.

You know what I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes. With the helmet and all it'd totally be doable.

P.S. Man I'm going to light up like a torch one day, I've been saving that for a special occasion.

Shawn are you still taking any suggestions on things we might like to see in your game?

Shawnacy's 4E D&D Game, part 2!

Fire away.
Interesting you should put it that way, given my number 1:

More Minions
This may seem kinda selfish but recently we've only been fighting tougher monsters and/or solos/elites. This means that a lot of my AoE spells aren't seeing a lot of showtime, and as a result, I don't feel as though I'm performing as well in combat as I could be. Earlier in the campaign (most notably the Temple of Pelor) we had a bunch of minions, a couple regular guys, and then one or two big guys. And we all got our chance to shine. I don't remember having any minions at all since the Battle of One Thousand Puppets.

More Gear Variety
Seems like all the gear you've been giving out lately are neck pieces. So much so that we tend to argue about not needing them. And while we all have magical implements/weaponry at this point, it seems like head/feet/hand items are in very short supply. Come to think of it, I don't think ANYONE has magic armor (except Serin, who bought hers. :) )

Alchemy Recipes
This is entirely selfish, so feel free to ignore. ;)

Anyway for all I know you have very good reasons for not doing any of this, I just figured I'd bring it up. :D

I'm having such a hard time choosing a power.

Blazing bolts lets me hit 2 targets (which is nice, especially with Shawn's recent trend of bigger bads than clumpy minions) at a range of 20 (also new for Serin), and then they explode into 3 Fire Damage to all adjacent. Lightning and Fire are both great elements for an attack to have.

Shout's the only 5x5 I get for, like, ever. Using Fyoosh, I have great range/blast thing going on, but it's otherwise pretty boring. Just a 5x5. Again, with fewer 'little people' and more biggies, it's not as great.

Spark Form is just straight up unique. I want it because it's very, very different. I shift 9, making an attack (1d6+8 dmg) on any enemy I walk through. Great for getting out of jams, and a great way to hit up to 9 people

But a challenger approaches! A power I completely dismissed before sounds cool--

Chaos Ray-- One target, Range 10 [2d8+8 DMG] + target swaps with a creature within 3 squares of it.
It sounded dumb at first, but the potentials could be great. We could set up traps (Errik, stand by the ledge! ... ZAP! Okay, now the target's by the ledge.. Shove him!), rescue allies from the center of enemies, if an ally is trapped somehow (like a cage) we could swap the ally with the enemy outside the cage, swap with enemies on a high ledge.. The possibilities are pretty great.

But the other powers are pretty attractive too..

Top contenders right now:
Blazing Bolts
Chaos Ray
(Shout and Spark Form just aren't doing it for me for some reason..)

Edit:

The Great Gamble:

Ally runs and jumps off a cliff that overlooks a pit of lava.
Serin uses her prepared action, Chaos Ray, on Enemy 1, which is 3 squares from Ally.
Hit!
The two swap places, and Enemy 1 plummets towards the lava.

Alt:
Miss!
Ally plummets to death.

Hey guys, seems I can't make the game on Thursday night. I received a pair of tickets to a Habs game and I'm totally going to go. Great tickets! Kindly document the session for me. Thanks! :)

Wow I am having so much trouble choosing Level 7 powers because these are the most important powers in the game. I can either heal more or heal some more. I don't know which ones to choose. Frankly, I think healing more is a good idea because what if I take damage in combat. Although, healing some more looks like a good prospect because what if I need to heal some more? For instance, think of this situation.

Ally takes damage.
I unleash a torrent of healing fury from my face DIRECTLY INTO MY ALLY. HE RECEIVES THE FULL BRUNT OF MY HEALING RAGE.

Unless I miss. Where the healing will simply zoom around the battlefield until it touches the nearest injured person.

But what if I heal some more? This might prove critical in case someone is injured more than expected. But I just can't come to a final decision. Paladins are so hard to play/

I know what he means though. For instance, at this point, I think I have about enough ways out of trouble. Who knows for the future will bring, sure, but consider the following.

Second Chance
Shield
OR Expeditious Retreat
Cloak of the Mountebank
Amulet of Passage
Wizard's Escape
Repelling Sphere

Any given encounter, I have 4+ ways to escape from trouble. I think that's enough. :)

So Gaspar's got the heals..

Errik has the escapes..

Serin has the transport!

Move 7-14 (+1 Speed from Shared Speed feat)
Teleport 3 (Spatial Trip)
Teleport 7 (Amulet of Passage)
Teleport Through Walls (Armor of Breaching)
Jump 11 (Thunder Leap)
Fly 7-28 (2 turns, up to 4 move actions, can fly 28) (Energetic Flight)
Spiderclimb 7-14 (Spidersilk Mantle)

Next up: Waterwalk (Wavestrider Boots)

Edit: Oh, and I've chosen Blazing Bolts as my new power.

Oh hey Shawn, I realized I haven't bugged you about any of my tome-related stuff since we hit level 5.

Does it have any radical new powers!?
