Sweet! That is awesome.
That... is not exactly accurate. (Why do I feel like such a downer when it comes to these things? I am such a story snob)What I'd like is the ability to conquer Skyrim for the Forsworn, simply because their presence in the game pretty much undercuts every claim the Stormcloaks make about Skyrim belonging to the Nords.
The Nords were there before the Empire took over? Well, the Forsworn were there before the Nords took over.
Well, dang it. That's what I get for taking the claims made by a Forsworn in an in-game book at face value.That... is not exactly accurate. (Why do I feel like such a downer when it comes to these things? I am such a story snob)
A long time ago, The Reach was a highly contested area of Skyrim. It was owned by the Nords, as one of the Nine Holds, but the Bretons also wanted to claim it as part of High Rock. This caused a lot of fighting between the two human races over the various Eras as both attempted to take it/keep control of it.
At one point the two sides finally came to an agreement to stop the conflict, and basically the Bretons were allowed to settle in The Reach with the Nords, causing a sort of intermingling of cultures. Out of this was born the Reachmen, Bretons that followed a very tribal style of society and worshiped many old styles of magic. They hated the Nords, believing that they were the true citizens of the region, and over time they breeded enough that they became the majority among the local outposts. Many Reachmen were bandits and outlaws during past Eras because of their hatred for the Nords and their government, and even broke away a few times causing various times the Nords had to reclaim the region. They did this again into the Forth Era, when Ulfric decided to put an end to their long standing uprising once and for all. The survivors of this "war" that saw most of the Reachmen killed, gave rise to the Forsworn, who continue fighting on to claim the land for the Reachmen.
I don't like the Stormcloaks either, but the Forsworn are not actually the first. That would actually be impossible, since the Nords are the original decedents of the Nede, who landed in Skyrim with Ysgramor. Those that moved out to High Rock during the Skyrim Conquests were captured by elves and bred with them, forming the first of the Bretons. The Nord conquered much of High Rock during this time, and only lost that region later in the First Era, at which point the Bretons began to breed fast enough to become the majority race of the region (overtaking the elves, who owned it in the times before the coming of man), leading to the future conflict over The Reach.
That is the nice thing about the books though, they give you different stories, even ones that are based more on opinion or fiction. There is one book that literally says that Alduin and Akatosh are the same dragon, as the writer extrapolates the way the Nords speak of Alduin with that of the deity on the level of Akatosh. It is only later we, the player, learn that Alduin is actually the first-born of Akatosh, and thus his son.Well, dang it. That's what I get for taking the claims made by a Forsworn in an in-game book at face value.
What a coincidence, I killed your General AND your emperor. But they don't go to Sovngarde, because they're imperial filth.Sorry to break it to you, Gas, but I killed your leader and then went to Sovngarde and beat up his spirit.
Yes, I'm sure they are truly sad that they don't get to be tormented in the afterlife by a vengeful Dovahkiin. What a coincidence, I killed your General AND your emperor. But they don't go to Sovngarde, because they're imperial filth.
So do you think Ma Bell should never have been broken up, because they got there first and "got it right?"Why? They got shit right and should be rewarded accordingly. Had any of the major corporations taken a hint they could have emulated the success of Steam. Is it Steam's fault that none of them have? Nope. So I'll keep using Steam because they get it.
Psf, Galmar is the Legate Rikke of the Stormcloak side. Oh, and I killed her too, and ALSO didn't deign it worthy of mention... but at least SHE gets to go to sovngarde.Yes, I'm sure they are truly sad that they don't get to be tormented in the afterlife by a vengeful Dovahkiin.
(Oh, and I killed Galmar Stone-Fist and beat on his spirit as well -- he's just such a wuss I didn't figure he was worth mentioning).
Neither side is without sin, as it were. The Nords are xenophobic, racist assholes but they believe heavily in individual freedoms. Meanwhile there's the Empire, which is basically your normal military dictatorship, although they really do try and use their powers for good. Still, the Empire is run by petty functionaries and strive to keep things together while trying not to let the Dunmer attack. This is why they abolished Talos worship. They need Skyrim and Skyrim unfortunately needs them. Without the Empire, the Dunmer will take over the entire area little by little. The Empire would fold as they need the fighting prowess of Skyrim and Skyrim would fall because they need the numbers that the Empire brings.Only nords go to sovngarde so duh tulius doesn't. And both sides r right, i like stormcloaks for what they believe in, but Ulfric is a greedy whelp. The Empire made that decision out of nessecity. Else all of the Empire would've been LITERALLY enslaved. My first character was Empire then my next 5 were stormcloak, then I got smart and went Empire.
Nerd... Senses... Tingling.... Must... Resist...Without the Empire, the Dunmer will take over the entire area little by little. The Empire would fold as they need the fighting prowess of Skyrim and Skyrim would fall because they need the numbers that the Empire brings.
