[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

I'm not surprised. Asylum makes enough money to fund their films by people getting their movies by mistake. They must be doing great with a movie people actually intend to see.

They're doing a Twitter contest for it too, the names were popping up during the movie. Some of them were pretty good, not that I can remember them now.

I'm not seeing any Black Cat pictures. Sounds like she's not even done with the costume yet.

If it's in the video in that thread, I'm at work and can't see streaming media. If that's the case, I'll check it out when I get home.

There was a contest at Comic Con to name the sequel and my two favorites were: Sharkano and Zero Shark Thirty.
My sister and I caught a few minutes of it the other day, she suggested the sequel be Sharknami.[DOUBLEPOST=1375085444][/DOUBLEPOST]

No video, pics are in this post.

Love the new Avatar, are there pictures of you in the Black Cat outfit?
Thank you!!

Hopefully I can do a real photoshoot soon with my costume upgrades - better fur, finished collar, maybe add heels, new gloves. But, I loved wearing it and I enjoyed being Felicia more than I did being Selina, so expect lots of her in the future.

This weekend I watched the 2010 Trigun movie, "Badlands Rumble." Was surprised at how good it was, given the inconsistent quality of the anime itself. I'm not exactly sure where in the timeline it's supposed to fall (obviously before the series climax when it started getting REALLY good), but I didn't think too hard about it. Liked it a lot, but I can see it would be lost on someone not familiar with the backstory of the series.

And it also occurred to me near the end - one of the main characters is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard (what a name, heh), who voiced Lilith in the Borderlands games... so given the huge amounts of vault bounty hunters with crazy weaponry in a wasteland setting it felt like a Borderlands anime movie, starting about halfway in or so.

No one saw The Wolverine yet??

I'm waiting to hear what a train-wreck it is. :hide:

According to my favourite movie reviewer, it's...okay. It's not terrible, but it's not great. So it's not X2 or First Class, but it's also not The Last Stand or the first Wolverine movie. It's about in line with the first X-Men movie, which was considered pretty good back then because all we had to compare it with was Batman & Robin or Blade.

I've heard it's remarkably blah. Which is exactly what I expect from anything associated with the X-Men franchise. It's just my opinion but I think those are, in general, just terrible movies.

Eh, I don't know. I think First Class is in a - heh - class of its own.

There just seems to be so much potential for the Xmen franchise and none of the films have gotten close to how awesome they should be. I would have liked to have seen what Aronofsky could have done with it, but if it was the same story then it still may not have worked.

I have seen The Wolverine. I thought it was pretty good. The darker tone to it works, although the film teeters off-balance a bit near the end when it becomes more like a standard superhero movie, which feels at odds with the rest of the film. It's not great, but it was a good film and certainly far closer to what a Wolverine film should be like instead of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Just imagine what an X-Men reboot would be like under Marvel Productions?
:csi:
It couldn't be any worse thats for sure. I mean, look, I totally have no problem believing that people like them (and, this is crazy but I don't think people who like them are bad people or even have bad taste, so this isn't personal), I know lots who do, I just think almost everything about them is bad. The costumes, the writing, most of the acting, the pacing, etc. I think outside of a few things done well theres not much to save if MP got control over them. I don't think the X-Men are an easy thing to bring to the screen, in fact I'd say they are one of the hardest to pull off.

It probably helps that Nightcrawler is my favorite Xman and Alan Cummings played him perfectly albeit somewhat subdued.
Alan Cumming was some brilliant casting IMO. I like watching Masterpiece Mystery just for his introductions.

I see it the way Espy does. Some of the characters don't transfer well to the screen, and most of the characters are shadows of their true selves.

Even though I obviously like the Xmen movies better than you guys, I do see your point. Storm is a perfect example. She's just godawful in the movies.

The Wolverine was better than Wolverine Origins like bird flu is better than the plague.

Villain was boring, movie was boring but still HEAPS better than Origins.

The actress that played Viper was the absolute low point though. She was fucking awful.

They missed out on using one of the best striking images from the old Wolverine in Japan comics I owned when I was but a boy. When he was wounded and fucked up and lying in bed all bandaged up, he lit up a cigar, took a drag and watched the smoke pour out of the bandaged wounds on his chest.

Here's hoping that will be in the director's cut and was removed to make it more family friendly for general movie going audiences.

Ruby Sparks

My second time watching it, knowing the ending this time, I realize that there's really very little romantic about this movie. I wound up talking very spoilery about this, so I'm putting it all behind spoiler text.

In fact, the whole point of the movie is to show just how overwhelmingly controlling the main character can be. Yes, it takes a very, very turn near the end, but it was like that throughout most of the story. I guess that's why I felt that dark scene (by far the most memorable) feels so natural because it takes the concept and especially the writer's controlling personality to its natural conclusion.

It's also no wonder that I enjoy this movie so much. It shows just how much control a character can have over a story and how little control you have sometimes in how they act or react. It might seem silly to think that, but anyone who has done a lot of creative writing will know exactly what I'm talking about. In a lot of ways, this movie is a literal allusion to the writing process, how we try to take so much control over the story and characters, when we should sometimes just let things take its natural course.

Just watched Flashpoint Paradox.

Other than the terrible voice actor for Flash, it was great.

I've read nothing but complaints that the comic wasn't a good thing to base a movie off of but if it's anywhere as much a blast that the film I'm stoked to read it.
