[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

Just watched Snow White and the Huntsman last night. Loved Charlize Theron as the evil queen. We kept making jokes about how the Huntsman should have just called for Mjölnir so he could have
defeated the guy he owed money to, the bridge troll, the queen's brother, and so forth
.
Also, I still think Kristen Stewart is about as exciting as wet cardboard.
The movie itself was a bit of a let down for me because I expected it to be more fantasy - like LOTR - for some reason. I think my favorite part was
when they were in Sanctuary with the dwarves. I thought the whole sequence with the fairies leading Snow White to the white deer (didn't catch it's name but I kept thinking it was an incarnation of Herne or Cernunnos maybe) was beautiful
.

Hang on. I think we're getting our characterization mixed up. Am I Superman or Zod?
Sorry, mixed up the quotes. For some reason, I was remembering that quote as being said by Zod.

Apologies for the mix-up. In the meantime, ThatNickGuy=Superman while Yoshimickster=general Zod. Resume your quote war.

All-right! Now all I need is 40 years of losing to Superman when I should've figured out a way to beat him by now considering I'm a damn general and I'll be SET!

Can you read my mind?
Not sure if he can, but let me try! HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRN-nope. Still need the EXP to get that ability.

I rewatched History of the World part 1, my bro found it on VHS(the only true medium). Mel Brooks is a master of parody and comedy.

My only problem with that movie is getting over my suspension of disbelief that Stewart is supposed to somehow be more beautiful than Theron.

I rewatched the Powerpuff girls movie again. I really wish this film did better, one cos it was awesome and two because a Samurai Jack movie was supposed to come out after this.

They are still talking about doing that, but I imagine they'd have to do it with Gendy Tartovsky (or however you spell his name). He's working for SONY Animation right now.

I know, Hotel Transylvania right? I really hope that'll be awesome- BY THE POWERS OF DARKNESS I hope it'll be good. Adam Sandler I know you've been in some eggs but please don't let this one of such eggs!

Hotel Transylvania looks pretty good at least. The extended trailer they showed during ParaNorman showed the actual plot and it looks really interesting.

I really REALLY hope it's good. Also how was ParaNorman?
From my previous post about it..

ParaNorman

Wow, this was great. It had a nice melancholy tone through out the movie, but lots of humor to keep it from becoming oppressive. Good use of music, great claymation (to be expected, considering the studio and director), and a decidedly mature approach to it's story-telling. It starts out like your normal fairy tale story, but you can pick the exact moment when the story swerves and it starts to reveal what the message really is...

It's when Norman's friends ditch him and he tries to go it alone, resulting in the story book getting blasted by the Witch (symbolic of how he can't just "fix" this like a storybook ending). This is also the moment he finds out what really happened. Tellingly, he's not afraid to let the seven zombies know they are assholes for what they did when they show up.

This part is also why it's not a Disney movie. Disney would have simply had him read the story book and put the witch back to sleep for another year. ParaNorman admits that this doesn't actually fix anything and is really just pushing the problem onto someone else (which is ALSO foreshadowed by how Norman's Uncle acts when he gives the job to Norman).

This is very much a "message movie" but it's not too hamfisted about it's delivery. Basically, it's about not letting fear dictate your life and about not perpetuating the cycle of violence against those who've harmed you (even if they DO deserve it sometimes). The ending is pretty subversive too: Most of the town doesn't learn anything, denying what they did or pretending it didn't happy. Still, it's a fun movie with a lot of legitimate creepiness and plenty of risque humor. If you have a kid who loves creepy stuff or just never grew out of that phase yourself (I know I didn't!), I highly recommend it.

Keep in mind there's a chance it'll happen ONLY if Hotel Transylvania does well. So get your tickets mofos we got a movie to finance!
Yeah. That and Tartakovsky has signed a contract with Sony to do animated films for them for a while. I know that after Hotel Transylvania he'll be working on a new Popeye movie.

I saw the live-action Popeye movie as a kid. Didn't remember much of it, so I tried watching it when it was on the telly two months back.

I stopped after three minutes.

Okay I know how stupid the live-action one was...and yet I still loved it. It was just so ridiculous! Plus I like how they put Olive Oil's brother Castor Oil in it. THIMBLE THEATER BITCHES!

On the topic of Popeye, anyone else find it awesome how he was originally a spin-off character? He was the Strong Bad of his day. Either that or Strong Bad is the Popeye of his day but whatevers baby.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. I've only seen the film once, more than twenty years ago, and even for a wee brat that film was trippy as hell.

Attack The Block
Awesome. Just awesome. I had expected a little more comedy than I got, but I also wasn't expecting the action to be as good as it was.
