On another note, I'm really tired. That getting up at 4am and climbing up steep half-cut rock stairs in the rain is finally catching up to me.

Now that I have another rare, free moment, I wanted to post some of the pics from the very first leg in the trip--Taiwan + the Wedding. This has pics from the bride's home + surrounding area (Technically Taipei, but far enough out to feel like somewhere else), one of the night markets @bhamv3 suggested (Tonghua, I believe), as well a some pics from an area a bit farther out called Jiufen.

All of these were taken on my LG V10 phone. Its not too bad for a phone, but its not quite my DSLR + 17-55 Canon EF-S lens that I used for the Longji terraces.

Your pictures of the pastoral side of China are fascinating... a lens to a bygone era. It's enough to make a man want to read up on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

There are always people complaining that the food in Chinese restaurants here in Germany is not authentic, but looking at the pictures of the buffet I don't see any differences from the all you can eat buffet I can have at a local restaurant.

Anyway, great pictures, many thanks for sharing them with us.

Welp, looks like I get to reupload Terrik: The Early Years again when I get back to the states. In the meantime, here is what I've been doing in China for the last week:

Here's a video of the short ride I took to get the rice:



And I took a hyperlapse video of the train trip from shanghai to Wuxi. About 30 minutes compressed to 2 minutes. The train generally moves at 300 kph.
